NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a contentious court filing, Rudy Giuliani's bankruptcy creditors accused him and his employees of concealing assets. These claims were vehemently denied by Maria Ryan, the president of Giuliani Communications, LLC, in a recent filing to a New York bankruptcy court.

Ryan characterized the accusations as "an outright lie and defamatory," asserting that neither Giuliani nor his associates are hiding money.

The former New York City mayor filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in December 2023 after being ordered to pay $148 million to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss, two Georgia election workers who successfully sued him for defamation.

During the 2020 presidential election, Giuliani, a former attorney to Donald Trump, apparently claimed that Freeman and Moss engaged in illegal activities while counting ballots in Fulton County, Georgia.

Maria Ryan calls accusations of bankruptcy crimes brought against Rudy Giuliani defamatory

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has been persistent in their assertions about the potential bankruptcy crimes and suggest that Ryan might be Giuliani’s "reported girlfriend."

Michael Ragusa, Giuliani’s head of security, dismissed the rumors about Ryan’s relationship with Giuliani as false and defamatory.

Ryan, in her June 18 filing, responded directly to the claims, stating, "Akin Gump has repeatedly made filings accusing Mayor Giuliani and the employees of Giuliani Communications, LLC of 'hiding' money. That is an outright lie and defamatory."

She further noted, "In one filing, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld stated there is possibly bankruptcy crimes. I, Dr. Maria Ryan, do all the business deals for Giuliani Communications, LLC. This is a lie and defamatory. How am I going to expand the company and bring in new revenue, when that was put out to solely harass Giuliani Communications, LLC, its employees, and Mayor Giuliani?"

Ryan said she "is filing this motion to ask the court to have Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld, the law firm hired by the Unsecured Creditors Committee to stop lying in their filings to the court."

One of the contentious points in the filings by Akin Gump is the claim that Giuliani was paying Ryan through his credit card at a time when his assets should have been preserved for bankruptcy creditors.

Addressing this, Ryan clarified, "At times I would use my credit card or my personal money to help Mayor Rudy Giuliani with groceries, medicine, or other bills. The Mayor would reimburse me, using his retirement fund."

She also emphasized her role in preparing the financial statements Giuliani must submit to the bankruptcy court.

"Mayor Rudy Giuliani and his bankruptcy attorneys have relied on me to gather information for the monthly reports. I have done my best. I submit documentation that clearly shows Mayor Rudy Giuliani is surviving mainly on his retirement fund and there isn't any other money," claimed Ryan.

Despite Akin Gump's repeated suggestions, Ryan's filing makes no reference to the allegations of her being Giuliani’s girlfriend. Ragusa supported this stance in an interview with Newsweek, asserting that Ryan and Giuliani were merely business partners.

He remarked, "Dr Maria Ryan is Mayor Giuliani's business partner and nothing more. Any reports of her being his girlfriend are false rumors made up by the mayor's enemies to damage his reputation and anyone associated with him."

Internet reacts as Rudy Giuliani's advisor Maria Ryan comes to his defense over bankruptcy crime allegations

Netizens were quick to slam Ryan as well as Giuliani as she tried to clarify the accusations brought against the former NYC mayor by his bankruptcy creditors.

One wrote, "A lot of words to say Dr. Maria is hiding all of Mayor Rudy’s assets. I mean *isn’t," and another said, "Kinda funny Maria is defending her use of Rudy’s credit card, too. Methinks Maria’s efforts to stick up for her (unfaithful) man are gonna backfire."

"They have no Shame," fumed a person, while someone else renmarjed, "Sounds like she may resent the financial pinch. I bet if they did a little looking around they may find she is hiding some of his assets and resources."

"Dear girlfriend of @RudyGiuliani, because of your man Rudy Rudy Rudy & his puppeteer, Donald Trump, the entire country is suffering from anxiety and depression. Thank you very much," offered an individual.
