WASHINGTON, DC: Senator Ted Cruz voiced strong support for the proposal to acquire Greenland, praising it as a strategic win for American economic and security interests.

Cruz also praised the administration for its unwavering focus on the "America First" agenda.

Ted Cruz commends Trump on Greenland acquisition focus

During an appearance on Fox News’s 'Sunday Morning Futures With Maria Bartiromo' on Sunday, January 18, Ted Cruz expressed full support for the administration’s goals.

“When it comes to Greenland, I want to commend President Trump,” Cruz told Bartiromo, “for being single-mindedly focused on America First, on US economic interests, and US national security interests.”

The Texas senator said the move was a necessary step for the country’s future. Cruz stated, “I believe it is overwhelmingly in America’s national interest to acquire Greenland."

To justify his stance, Cruz pointed to the Senate’s previous work and the history of American expansion.

He noted that, as chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee, he chaired a hearing on the benefits of the acquisition a year ago.

He dismissed media criticism by comparing the potential deal to the Louisiana Purchase and the acquisition of Alaska.

He explained that “the whole history of America has been a history of acquiring new lands and new territories, whether you go back to Thomas Jefferson making the

Louisiana purchase. about half of the United States of America today, or you go back to America purchasing Alaska from Russia.” Cruz also highlighted that Greenland possesses “massive rare earth minerals and critical minerals” that would provide “enormous economic benefits to America.”

Furthermore, Cruz noted that the island is "located on the Arctic which is a major theater for major military conflict with either Russia or China," adding that "It’s also critical for the Golden Dome and for defending America from strikes."

Maria Bartiromo agreed, noting its importance in stopping missile fire. However, not everyone in the party shares this enthusiasm.

Earlier, Senator Rand Paul told NBC’s 'Meet the Press' that "even the most hawkish members of our caucus have said they won’t support" taking the land by force. Paul criticized the diplomatic tactics involved, suggesting that "as far as trying to buy it peacefully, you don’t get purchasers to come around by berating them and telling them you’ll take in anyway. So, I don’t think that’s very successful."
