Ozzy Osbourne opens up on health issues and 'heartbreaking' reason why he can't tour anymore
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ozzy Osbourne shared a candid update about his health struggles, revealing the toll multiple surgeries and his battle with Parkinson's disease have taken on him.
The legendary Black Sabbath frontman, known for his larger-than-life persona, spoke about why he's no longer able to tour.
Ozzy Osbourne details health struggles after surgery
At 75, Ozzy Osbourne has undergone seven surgeries in the past five years, including a fourth spinal surgery in September 2023 following a fall in 2019, and has been battling Parkinson’s disease since 2003.
Despite these setbacks, Ozzy maintains his resilience, expressing gratitude for the life he has led and not regretting a thing.
He opened up about his struggles joking that he's "nearly f*****g dead!"
In 2019, he experienced a major setback after tripping during a nighttime visit to the bathroom. “I fell over and I landed wrong,” Ozzy told the publication.
The rock icon revealed to The Sun that his health took a dramatic turn after a spinal surgery in 2019, which left him struggling to walk.
He explained, "I went to the doctor's and you assume everybody knows what they're doing. My son Jack has a video of me going into surgery, saying, 'I'll see you in a few minutes.' I haven't walked properly since," he said.
Ozzy Osbourne opens up on Parkinson's, says it didn't affect him as much as surgeries
While many have attributed his disability to Parkinson's, Ozzy Osbourne believes the surgery is the bigger issue.
He stated, "I mean, when I came off the quad bike in 2003, I still did tours and I had Parkinson's back then. It was THAT f*****g surgery."
Even after this Ozzy said, “But if it is the end of the road for me, I can’t complain."
Ozzy's ongoing health issues have also delayed the family's plans to move back to the UK.
Sharon Osbourne, Ozzy's wife, had previously discussed their desire to return "home" to England after years of living in the United States.
Speaking on their family podcast 'The Osbournes', Sharon explained that the move had been in the works for a long time but has been delayed due to Ozzy's health, according to the Mirror.
“I was supposed to come back a year ago but, because of my ill health and my disabilities, they won’t let me," Ozzy told The Sun.
Ozzy Osbourne details struggles during flights
Ozzy Osbourne, took a four-hour flight from Los Angeles to Cleveland, Ohio, for his induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, honoring his solo career that has spanned over four decades.
"The best news I’ve had in years. My last show was New Year’s Eve at the LA Forum nearly six years ago," he said.
Ozzy is still optimistic about flying to England saying, "I might just fly to New York, stay a couple of days and then fly to England from there."
“But if something happens at 35,000ft on a 747 bound for London, which is a seven-hour flight, I’m up s**t creek," he said.
“I’m prone to getting blood clots in my legs,” said Ozzy. “I’d fall over because I can’t stand upright.”
“My balance has gone, which is very frustrating. At the rehearsal, I was very close to breaking down and crying. Them old juices inside me still mean I want to get up there. It’s heartbreaking that I can’t perform," he said.
