WASHINGTON DC: Attorney General Pam Bondi alleged that the “deep state” was involved after a Department of Justice employee was caught on camera throwing a Subway sandwich at a federal officer in Washington, DC.

The man, identified in court documents as Sean Charles Dunn, was fired from his position in the DOJ’s criminal division. The incident occurred on August 10 near the intersection of 14th and U streets.

Pam Bondi says Sean Charles Dunn's actions reflect 'deep state' resistance

Sean Charles Dunn, who faces felony charges for assault, worked in the DOJ’s international affairs section and was accused of hurling a sandwich at a US Customs and Border Protection agent.

The department had deployed hundreds of agents to the capital as President Donald Trump federalized the city’s police force to address what he described as rampant crime.

“I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice — NO LONGER,” Pam Bondi posted on X.

She added, “This is an example of the Deep State we have been up against for seven months as we work to refocus DOJ.” Bondi also declared, “You will NOT work in this administration while disrespecting our government and law enforcement.”

Video shows man in pink shirt throwing sandwich at officer

Footage posted by FBI Director Kash Patel shows a man in a pink polo shirt and light shorts speaking to agents while holding a wrapped Subway sandwich. Moments later, he threw it into the chest of CBP Agent Gregory Lairmore before running away as at least three officers gave chase.

According to a DC police detective’s statement, Dunn shouted obscenities and pointed a finger in Lairmore’s face while standing “within inches” of him, as per CNBC.

Dunn allegedly yelled, “F**k you! You f*****g fascists! Why are you here? I don’t want you in my city!” before crossing the street and throwing the sandwich.

Dunn was arrested om August 13, Patel confirmed. Court documents say he continued yelling at the officer before “forcefully” throwing the sandwich. He then tried to flee but was apprehended.

While being processed by the Metropolitan Police Department, Dunn reportedly said, “I did it. I threw a sandwich,” according to the detective’s account.

Internet splits over Pam Bondi's remark in Subway sandwich case

The internet was divided over Pam Bondi's "deep state" comments, with some users mocking the statement while others defended it. “Everybody gave @AGPamBondi a hard time saying she was weak, but they were dead wrong… she is tough as nails,” one user commented on her post.

Another questioned, “Law enforcement officers so tough they are hurt by a Subway sandwich?”

“Bro literally just ruined his life and career over a sandwich,” wrote one. A different user said, “A felony for hitting an agent with a sandwich during a highly emotional event? Do you really think that’s appropriate? I don’t think you’re fit to be Attorney General if you’re gonna throw massive federal penalties at people for throwing food.”

Another user asked, “Ok, just curious, were you not part of an administration that pardoned people who hit cops on January 6th?”

One more joked, “‘The deep state’ and it’s a guy who threw a sandwich lmfao.” Someone else quipped, “One of the most brutal crimes I’ve seen.”

Others defended Bondi, with one saying, “Good, set an example and stick to it. When people see they’re being held accountable is when these paid mobs disappear.”
