WASHINGTON, DC: Attorney General Pam Bondi didn’t hold back during a fiery Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Tuesday, October 7. She told Senator Adam Schiff (D-CA), “You know something, if you worked for me, you would have been fired, because you were censured by Congress for lying.”

She was constantly hit with the question, "Did Homan take the money?" referring to border czar Tom Homan.

This comes just weeks after FBI Director Kash Patel called Schiff "the biggest fraud to ever sit in the US Senate."

Bondi rebukes Schiff during a heated conversation

The tension boiled over when Adam Schiff said that Pam Bondi had turned the Justice Department into Donald Trump's “sword and shield.”

U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi speaks on recent Supreme Court rulings in the briefing room at the White House on June 27, 2025 in Washington, DC. The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that individual judges cannot grant nationwide injunctions to block executive orders, including the injunction on President Trump’s effort to eliminate birthright citizenship in the U.S. The justices did not rule on Trump’s order to end birthright citizenship but stopped his order from taking effect for 30 days. He claimed the agency had become overly politicized under her leadership, pointing specifically to the FBI’s handling of an alleged sting operation involving Homan.

According to Schiff, Homan accepted $50,000 in an FBI operation in late 2024.

Bondi pushed back, saying the case had already been reviewed by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and Patel. Both had agreed to close it before she took office.

But Schiff wasn’t convinced. He cited a Fox News interview where Homan flatly denied any wrongdoing.

“I did nothing criminal. I did nothing illegal,” Homan had said. “I’m glad the FBI and DOJ came out and said that nothing illegal happened. No criminal activity.”

At the time, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt had also defended Homan, accusing officials from the previous administration of orchestrating a political setup.

“Mr Homan never took the $50,000,” Leavitt said. “This was a setup, plain and simple.”

During Tuesday's Senate hearing, Schiff continued pressing Bondi. “Did he take the money?” he asked pointedly.

That was the breaking point, and Bondi shot back, “Leavitt is one of the most trustworthy people I know.” She then used the "fired" statement that left Schiff speechless.

Pam Bondi's explosive comment leaves Adam Schiff and fellow Democrats on defense

Pam Bondi didn’t argue with just Adam Schiff; she also went after multiple senators in the hearing.

The former Florida Attorney General demanded that Schiff “apologize to Donald Trump for trying to impeach him after you now know that Joe Biden tried to cover up Hunter Biden’s involvement with Ukraine.”

She didn’t hold back, “I think you owe the president an apology for your entire career, frankly.”

Earlier in the hearing, Schiff said, “As a former federal prosecutor myself, I served in a (Justice) Department that would never use the office to go after the president’s enemies or to hide the corruption of his friends.”

That line didn’t sit well with Bondi. Her response to Schiff was swift and cutting. Over the course of the nearly five-hour hearing, Bondi went after several Democratic senators.

She accused Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) of “misrepresenting his military record,” and suggested that Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) had ties to “dark money” groups that benefited his wife’s company.

Her barbs continued with Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Dick Durbin (D-IL) as well.

She concluded with, "I wish you loved your hometowns as much as you hate Donald Trump."
