Patrick Clancy reveals haunting dream about daughter Cora as he holds on to children’s memories

DUXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS: Patrick Clancy has opened up about how he continues to remember his three children, Cora, Dawson and Callan, while speaking about some of the most painful moments of his life.

Patrick spoke to '60 Minutes' on Sunday, September 19, in his first interview since a mistrial was declared in the Lindsay Clancy case. He described the memories he keeps in his New York home and a dream about Cora that felt incredibly real.

Patrick now lives in New York with his new wife, Dr Rachel Danis.

While talking about what he brought from his former home in Massachusetts, he said he kept items that reminded him of his children.

“Some of their toys. A lotta personal items. Just things that reminded me of them,” Patrick  said.

Those memories are now part of his home. He has handprints from his children, photos of Callan, and toys that Cora and Dawson often played with.

Patrick also spoke about a dream he had about his daughter, Cora, several months after the children’s deaths.

“I remember early on having a dream, maybe six months or a year after. And I’m in the kitchen at the house, and Cora walks in,” he recalled.

In the dream, Patrick looked at his daughter and asked, “Where have you been?” Cora then came toward him and gave him a big hug.

Patrick said some of his dreams about his children can feel “so real.” He described feeling “lucid” during certain dreams, making the memories feel especially vivid.

Patrick also discussed testifying during the Lindsay Clancy trial, calling the experience “very difficult.”

His 911 call after finding his children was played for jurors. Patrick said he knew hearing the call would be horrific and experienced a traumatic panic attack before it was played.

“My heart was pounding. And they put me in an ambulance. They offered me some medication, but I said, ‘I don’t want it, ’cause I want to go back and I want to finish this so I can be done with this.’”

When Patrick returned home on January 23, 2024, he found Cora and Dawson dead after they had been strangled with exercise bands. Callan was still alive and was taken to Boston Children’s Hospital.

Patrick remembered hoping that Callan would survive.

“Just gimme one. Just gimme one kid, and I would raise him as best I could, and I would give him the best life I possibly could. I’d tell him about his brother and sister.”

Patrick said he realized Callan’s condition was serious after arriving at the hospital and seeing the doctor’s reaction.

Callan remained in the hospital for four days before he died. Patrick said those final days gave him time to hold his son and stay beside him.

“I’m so grateful for those four days that I had with him. And I’m so grateful he hung on,” Patrick said. “I got to hold him. I got to lay down next to him. And he died in my arms.”

The Lindsay Clancy case later ended in a mistrial after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision.
