Paul Walker’s brother says Meadow should decide Brian O’Conner’s AI return in final 'Fast & Furious'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Paul Walker’s brother Cody Walker does not want to be involved in the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise again. However, he does not want his absence to prevent the franchise from bringing Paul’s character back.

Cody said the films could use artificial intelligence (AI) to recreate his late brother’s character, but the decision ultimately lies with Paul’s daughter, Meadow Walker. “My stance is, it’s what Meadow wants to see done; it’s her father,” Cody shared during an interview.

He also praised the franchise for not using AI in previous movies, noting that there is plenty of untouched footage of Paul that could potentially be used strategically. However, he left the final decision to the production team and his niece, Meadow.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Paul’s younger brother Cody shared that Brian O’Conner could return in the 11th and final instalment of the ‘Fast & Furious’ franchise.

“My stance is, it’s what Meadow wants to see done; it’s her father,” Cody tells the outlet, referring to Paul’s daughter, who appeared in ‘Fast X’ and is close with Vin Diesel. “I would not be interested in doing that again. I love the way his character exited the franchise."

"They didn’t kill him off, they didn’t do something cheesy like that. It’s beautiful; (Brian) is off raising his kids," he added. "But if they want to do that, if Meadow would like to see that, they don’t need me or Caleb."

Cody praised the franchise for not using AI in previous movies, while noting that years of unused footage of Paul could potentially help bring Brian back.

"AI was not a thing back in 2014, so they could do that. There’s years of footage that was never used from these other Fast films. They’re the best in the business; they can figure that out," he continued.

Cody also made it clear that he would not be interested in returning as a body double for his late brother. Instead, he said the filmmakers would not need him or Caleb if they chose to use AI, provided Meadow was comfortable with the decision.

Cody and Caleb, Paul’s brothers, previously helped complete ‘Fast & Furious 7’ after their elder brother died in a car crash in 2013. With the help of visual effects and their involvement, the film was completed and gave Paul’s character a graceful exit.

Back in 2018, his brothers were also open to returning to the franchise in the future. “I just hope we get to have a little cameo and bring Paul back to save the day and I get to help create that again,” Caleb told the same outlet, “I think there could potentially be a way to do it. But it would take a lot of thought and it’d have to be tasteful.”
