WASHINGTON, DC: US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth this week reshared a series of social media posts from President Donald Trump touching on the White House’s stance toward Iran and ongoing US military operations in the Middle East.

The posts included messages about supporting the Iranian people’s freedom and touting the United States as “the hottest and most successful country” in the world, amid reports of fresh strikes against alleged ISIS targets in Syria.

Trump’s comments about Iran and freedom, which Hegseth on reshared on Truth Social and X over the weekend, came shortly after the Trump administration detained Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, signaling continued US engagement on multiple foreign policy fronts.

Pete Hegseth amplifies Trump’s message about Iran’s freedom

Trump’s Truth Social post that Hegseth shared framed the United States as ready to support “freedom” in Iran, a nation long at odds with Washington over nuclear ambitions and regional influence.

Hegseth’s decision to amplify the message reflects the administration’s broader public diplomacy approach at a time when Tehran’s regional posture and nuclear program remain sensitive topics. While the White House has repeatedly denied seeking direct regime change in Iran, Trump’s rhetoric about helping the Iranian people reignites debate over US policy toward the country.

Two hours after the Iran message, Trump also posted that the United States is “the Hottest and most Successful Country anywhere in the WORLD!!!” — a patriotic claim Hegseth chose to highlight.

Pete Hegseth highlights large-scale strikes on ISIS in Syria

In addition to Trump’s posts, Hegseth shared a separate post highlighting Operation Hawkeye Strike, a series of US military actions against alleged ISIS targets in Syria over the past weekend.

High on the agenda for the allies will be ascertaining how the U.S. intends to influence the trajectory of the war in Ukraine, as the conflict nears the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. “We will never forget, and never relent,” Hegseth captioned a post from the Central Command account about the strikes, underscoring the US commitment to combating terrorist threats.

“US and coalition forces remain resolute in pursuing terrorists who seek to harm the United States,” he added.

Pete Hegseth’s past comments on military posture and narcotics operations

Hegseth’s social media activity over the past several months has kept him in the spotlight for his outspoken Defense Department posture.

In November, he drew scrutiny after reportedly ordering US troops to “kill everybody” aboard a suspected narcotics vessel off Venezuela’s coast — a claim he dismissed as “fake news” in a rebuttal post on X, insisting operations in the Caribbean were lawful and focused on stopping drug trafficking.

“As usual, the fake news is delivering more fabricated, inflammatory, and derogatory reporting to discredit our incredible warriors fighting to protect the homeland. As we’ve said from the beginning, and in every statement, these highly effective strikes are specifically intended to be ‘lethal, kinetic strikes,’” Hegseth wrote on November 28, 2025.
