WASHINGTON, DC: Pete Hegseth’s children’s reaction has gone viral after he slammed the media during Monday’s White House Easter Egg Roll.

Hegseth lashed out after a reporter asked him about war plans he allegedly shared with his wife and brother on Signal, marking the second time he’s sparked controversy for discussing sensitive matters on the app. The Secretary of Defense was at a party with his wife, Jennifer Rauchet, and their blended family of seven children when the question about the infamously dubbed Signalgate 2.0 arose.

Pete Hegseth slams media as ‘hoaxsters’

Pete Hegseth fired back at the media, saying, “Hoaxsters—this group right here—full of hoaxsters that peddle anonymous sources from leakers with axes to grind, and then you put it all together as if it’s some news story,” as reported by the Daily Beast.

Hegseth did not stop there as he continued, “See, this is what the media does. They take anonymous sources from disgruntled former employees, and then they try to slash and burn people and ruin their reputations,” while his children looked embarrassed standing behind him.

The 44-year-old turned towards his children and added, “This is why we’re fighting the fake news media. This is why we’re fighting slash-and-burn Democrats. This is why we’re fighting hoaxsters!”

Pete Hegseth was accused of sharing classified information earlier

Last month, Pete Hegseth found himself embroiled in controversy after reports emerged that he shared details of a military airstrike against Yemen’s Houthi militants in a chat where The Atlantic editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg was mistakenly added.

Hegseth initially denied the allegations, which led to Goldberg sharing screenshots of the conversation. It showed that the Trump Defense Secretary had texted the attack plans in detail.

National Security Adviser Waltz later took responsibility for mistakenly adding the journalist to the chat but did not explain how Goldberg’s number ended up in his phone, claiming he had never met him.

As the video of Pete Hegseth’s children’s reaction to his meltdown went viral, Reddit users eagerly reacted to it.

A user commented, “I think Pete Hegseth’s kids might hate him.”

Another wrote, “Those are the faces of kids who have had a lot of practice learning how to spot the signs that dad has been drinking.”

A third one said, “The looks on those kids' faces tell me they make the expressions so often they don't even know they are making them anymore. If he's that bad with the cameras on them on a Sunday Easter event, all dressed up, imagine the deranged mouth he has at home.”

Another comment read, “Omg when one kid just started pulling on his hair and covering his face… oh man I just felt that kid’s embarrassment. I really would not be surprised if his kids go no contact with him as soon as they hit 18.”

A person commented, “Oh dear those poor kids 😭 they clearly don’t want to be on camera.”

“These poor kids. They look so embarrassed,” another added.

An X user tweeted, “The face you make when Dad promised to go to rehab but he just went to the white house and doubled up on the bottle instead.”

“Those are faces of kids who've seen dad get riled up before and are worried that he's going to really lose it,” another user said.
