PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA: The editorial board of The Philadelphia Inquirer has urged former President Donald Trump to withdraw from the race after his debate with President Biden, denouncing what they described as a "bombastic litany of lies."

"The debate about the debate is misplaced. The only person who should withdraw from the race is Trump," the editorial board published their piece on Saturday, June 29.

The Philadelphia Inquirer argued Donald Trump should resign

Biden's debate performance caused alarm among media members and some Democratic Party affiliates, leading multiple media sources to propose his withdrawal from the race.

The Inquirer conceded that Biden's debate appearance was disastrous, yet contended that it was Donald Trump who ought to resign.

"The debate served as a reminder of what another four years of Trump would look like. More lies, grievance, narcissism, and hate. Supporters say they like Trump because he says whatever he thinks. But he mainly spews raw sewage," the Inquirer wrote.

The editorial board contended that Trump did not merit a position on the debate stage and stated, "why even give him a platform?"

"Yes, Biden had a horrible night. He’s 81 and not as sharp as he used to be. But Biden on his worst day remains lightyears better than Trump on his best," they continued.

They contended that Biden has assembled a team of experienced aides who value public service, and they maintained that the president "believes in the best of America."

"The Democrat machine is in full freak-out mode because President Trump delivered the greatest debate performance in history while Joe Biden completely embarrassed himself in from of the country and the rest of the world," In a statement to Fox News Digital, Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said.

The New York Times urged Joe Biden to withdraw

Other news organizations, including The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and The New York Times, have urged Biden to withdraw from the race.

"He failed to outline the most fundamental aspects of his platform," The AJC Editorial Board stated.

"He failed to take credit for the significant accomplishments of his 3 and a half years in office. And he failed to counter the prevarications of an opponent, who, according to CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale, lied 30 times during the course of the debate, approximately once every 90 seconds of his allotted time."

The New York Times described Biden's continued pursuit of the presidency as a "reckless gamble."

"The president appeared on Thursday night as the shadow of a great public servant. He struggled to explain what he would accomplish in a second term. He struggled to respond to Mr Trump’s provocations. He struggled to hold Mr Trump accountable for his lies, his failures and his chilling plans. More than once, he struggled to make it to the end of a sentence," the editorial board wrote.

The editors of The New York Times argued that Biden had been an admirable president but stated that "greatest public service Mr Biden can now perform is to announce that he will not continue to run for re-election."

Internet suggests that Joe Biden and Donald Trump should retire from politics

The news of Trump's presidential ambition was met with a range of reactions on social media. One said, "Trump should quietly forget his presidential ambition, He has nothing to offer Americans..... Joe Biden our choice."

Another user user added, "Both Trump and Biden should drop out for the good of the country."

The third commentator wrote, "Biden's debate performance was a mess, but Trump's got some serious baggage too. Maybe both should just step aside and let someone else try to fix this country's problems."

"I would much rather deal with someone who had a bad performance than a liar and convicted felon," a person slammed Trump.

A user asserted, "Trump and Biden should both retire from political life and play that golf match they aspire to."
