TWIN FALLS, IDAHO: Over a week after the deadly mass shooting at an In-N-Out Burger, the police released chilling video footage from the shooting scene.

The dramatic surveillance video showed terrified employees diving for cover and shielding one another as Chad Williams, 24, allegedly opened fire at the In-N-Out on August 1. However, the police, during a press conference, said that the motive for the shooting remains unknown.

The footage shows the moment the chaos began, when the gunman drove up to the drive-thru payment window and shot the first victim, who was later identified as In-N-Out employee Ashley Garibay, according to the police.

The gunman then parked his car and shot another victim who was in his car, followed by a clip showing the gunman looking through the payment window and seeing employees rendering aid to Garibay, according to police narration of the video.

The gunman was also seen firing into the payment window, according to police, and when his handgun jammed, he went to his car to get a rifle.

"What happened here was violent, frightening and deeply traumatic," Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks said during a news conference.

The newly released video footage showed the panic inside the restaurant as an off-duty trooper searched for the gunman and helped usher people to the exit.

According to the police, the video footage shows the gunman running back toward the drive-thru carrying a rifle before he opened fire on customers. Later, a video captured a heroic act by Jordan Salinas, who was armed with a handgun, confronting the suspect in the parking lot while the gunman continued to fire.

Following which, the off-duty officer and Salinas both confronted the suspect, which police said helped stop the shooting.

"To that young man, you are a hero," Hicks said. "Your courage, your composure, your selflessness in that moment likely gave others the time they needed to escape harm. This community is grateful for you, and we will never forget what you did that day."

Hicks also praised the work of an off-duty state trooper, who shot at Williams from inside the restaurant, and former police officer AJ James, who was wounded while confronting him. Authorities previously credited an armed civilian who fired back and diverted Williams from the restaurant.

Investigation reveals challenge of determining 'there was only one shooter'

Williams, who police believe acted alone, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, officials said.

The slain victims were identified by police as Garibay, 23, Dale Schultz, 66, and Christopher Claunch, 59.

Hicks also mentioned that the first officer was on the scene within three minutes of the call, but it took about 90 minutes "to determine there was only one shooter involved."

"During those 90 minutes, officers received multiple reports of possible active shooters in different locations. There were reports of suspects headed toward the mall, which required officers to divert their attention and resources to respond there," Hicks said.
