WASHINGTON, DC: As part of the investigation into President Joe Biden's impeachment, House Speaker Mike Johnson told the New York Post on March 13 that he thought claims made by the commander-in-chief's brother and son during their testimony to Congress were 'demonstrably untrue'.

During the yearly House GOP policy retreat, which took place this year at the Greenbriar Resort in West Virginia, the House speaker stated, "What was missing from those interviews, in my view, is a lot more truth."

Mike Johnson believes Hunter and James Biden made ‘untrue’ statements during testimony

Johnson remarked on the testimony which took place in February, "I think they were fairly evasive. I think clearly – I believe that there was testimony provided that is just demonstrably untrue based upon the bank records and some of the evidence, whistleblower testimony, that’s come forward."

Johnson refrained from accusing James Biden and Hunter of lying on their own. He said, "I’m gonna let people draw their own conclusions." He added, "But I don’t think that Hunter Biden shared the whole truth. That’s my personal opinion."

Johnson contended in November 2023 that the investigation into the president's involvement in his family's business dealings was approaching a 'tipping point' and that congressional subpoenas for the first son and first brother's testimony would yield the proof required to advance the investigation into a formal impeachment trial.

The House speaker contended on Wednesday, March 13, that "a lot of untoward, probably unlawful activities" were occurring throughout the scheme, and that the evidence gathered by the three House committees tasked with the investigation "has confirmed what we all sort of suspected or knew intuitively" about the Biden family's purported influence peddling operation.

Still, he was unprepared to proceed with a full House floor vote on the president's impeachment.

Johnson said, "The committees of jurisdiction, as I mentioned, are still doing their investigations and that’s what they’re required to do under the law. It’s a very serious, sober-minded, slow, and deliberate process. I’m grateful that they handled it that way."

About the vote on the articles of impeachment, he remarked, "So all that is to say, I think there’s still some additional evidence that has not been turned over. We’re just not quite yet to that point."

Internet criticizes Mike Johnson for his statement

Many people on the internet believed that Mike Johnson would still not do anything despite saying that Hunter and James Biden made 'untrue' statements during their testimony.

A user wrote on X, "Speaker Mike Johnson can posture & bloviate all he wants, but until he makes criminal referrals for numerous administration personnel or calls for an impeachment vote, HE literally is the problem."

A person wrote, "But he won’t do anything about it", while another added, "And that's about as far as it will go, just a statement."

A user mentioned, "Produce the evidence and you have a case", whereas one wrote, "He believes a lot of crazy things."
