WASHINGTON, DC: Representative Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts issued a stark warning that former President Donald Trump’s Department of Justice (DOJ) would “go on a murdering spree” if the presumptive GOP nominee secures a second term in the White House this coming November, sparking a wave of backlash online.

In a House Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing on the Office of Personnel Management, Pressley highlighted the negative implications she sees in 'Project 2025.'

What is Project 2025?

This initiative, spearheaded by the conservative Heritage Foundation, aims to reshape the federal government significantly, potentially supporting a future Republican president.

Pressley emphasized her concerns about Project 2025, often referred to as a blueprint for a potential second Trump administration. She criticized its proposals, including consolidating executive power, cutting agency funding, and replacing career civil servants with political appointees under an executive order known as "Schedule F."

"It is critical that we understand that the far-right extremists who are advocating for Schedule F see it as a means to an end. It is their pathway to enact widespread wholesale policy violence," Pressley stated during the hearing.

“One thing I know for sure about Trump and his sycophants is that they telegraph their harm.”

Judge Juan Merchan scheduled Trump's criminal trial to begin on April 15, which would make it the first criminal prosecution of a former American president. Trump was charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records last year, which prosecutors say was an effort to hide a potential sex scandal, both before and after the 2016 election. Ayanna Pressley critiques the 'Project 2025' stance on the death penalty

Pressley described 'Project 2025' as a "far-right manifesto" encompassing “a 1,000-page bucket list of extremist policies that would uproot every government agency and disrupt the lives of every person who calls this country home.”

She specifically criticized its stance on the death penalty, an issue she has actively opposed.

“The Department of Justice would go on a murdering spree,” she asserted.

“It would rush to use the death penalty and expand its use to even more people, while circumventing due process protections.”

According to the text of Project 2025, one of its objectives is to seek “the next conservative Administration” to “do everything possible to obtain finality for the 44 prisoners currently on federal death row.”

Only 16 people have been under federal executions since the reinstatement of the death penalty in 1988, the Trump administration notably carried out 13 of the 16 executions in the final months of his term in office.

In response to Pressley's remarks, Trump spokesperson Steven Cheung criticized her characterization of the administration's agenda for the DOJ during the hearing. Cheung labeled Pressley as an "unserious" person for "using ridiculous language like that."

Netizens baffled by Ayanna Pressley's take on 'Project 2025'

A user tweeted, "Would she “view as negative” those same policies under the current president?"

Another added, "You mean like the current administration is doing? That's called "projection" Mrs. Clean."

A third said, ""Policy violence"? Do you guys just call everything you disagree with "violence" now? That's some top-shelf gaslighting right there."

"Project 2025 is Christo fascism," read a tweet.

"Clown," simply wrote a user.

"It can’t be anymore disruptive than the Bidenomics inflation packages," stated a user. "CAN YOU GO BACK TO WHATEVER PLANET YOU CAME FROM....," said a user.
