BAY HEAD, NEW JERSEY: Republican presidential hopeful Chris Christie took to X on Monday, December 11, 2023, to post a video of him addressing his constituents, cautioning them of Trump winning back the White House in 2024.

Christie, a former governor of the state of New Jersey, said in the video, “I don't want there to be any doubt in anybody's mind. He is a danger to this country. He is unfit to be president. He is here only to serve himself and not to serve you.”

“And he said the other day in legal papers that the president of the United States does not have the obligation to support the Constitution. He said that the oath says, ‘Preserve, Protect and Defend, not support.’ And let me tell you something. He believes it, and he will act that way,” Christie said. “And if that doesn't chill your blood as an American, I don't know what will.”

Christie has been anti-Trump in his presidential campaign

Donald Trump is undoubtedly the favorite of the Republican party and its voters to challenge Joe Biden for the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

However, Christie, the 61-year-old Republican, believes Trump is unfit to return to the White House due to his scandal-plagued tenure and incitement of the January 6 Capitol attack.

According to Reuters, Christie launched his 2024 presidential campaign on June 6, 2023, with a scathing attack on the Republican front-runner Donald Trump, branding him a "self-serving mirror hog" and criticizing his opponents for avoiding direct confrontation.

"A lonely, self-consumed, self-serving mirror hog is not a leader," he said at the time.

Christie had also served as an advisor during Trump's successful 2016 presidential campaign but has since been an outspoken critic of the former president's baseless claims that the 2020 election was rigged.

A former federal prosecutor in the state of New Jersey, Christie presented himself as the only Republican presidential contender willing to go toe-to-toe with the belligerent Trump.

Even in his speeches during the GOP debates, Christie has maintained his anti-Trump crusade onstage despite trailing behind him and other Republican presidential hopefuls in the favourability/approval ratings.

Christie said during the fourth GOP debate last week, “I’m in this race because the truth needs to be spoken: He is unfit. This is a guy who just said this past week that he wants to use the Department of Justice to go after his enemies when he gets in there. And the fact of the matter is, he is unfit to be president. And there is no bigger issue in this race … than Donald Trump and those numbers prove it.”

In his concluding speech, Christie asked the debate audience to do this mental exercise, “I want you all to kind of picture in your minds Election Day: You’ll all be heading to the polls to vote. And that’s something that Donald Trump will not be able to do, because he will be convicted of felonies before then. And his right to vote will be taken away.”

Christie may be proven right in his assessment given the number of indictments the former President has been embroiled in since his ousting from the White House in 2020.

But, forever the darling of the majority of the Republican voter base, Trump is now riding on a high, unsure if his bid for president of the US in 2024 will come to pass, despite the overwhelming wave of support that’s behind him, at the moment.

Internet urges Christie to stop complaining about Trump

People on X are not happy with Chris Christie in his lone crusade within the Republican party to go against Donald Trump ahead of the upcoming 2024 general elections.

One user said, “You're still talking?"

Another X user wrote, "Mr.Christie, sorry , you have no chance to become the @GOP nominee in 2024"

Another user remarked, "Who owns you, Chris? They must have a big checkbook."

One user tweeted, "His sole reason for being in a race he can’t win is to be a prop for establishment reps."

Another X user quipped, "You should know. You helped him the whole time he was there."

Finally, this user tweeted, "I sure wish they would listen to you."
