WASHINGTON, DC: A group of protesters, who identified themselves as Democrats, organized a demonstration outside the White House on Saturday, July 20. They demanded President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential against Republican nominee Donald Trump.

Pass the Torch, a brand-new Democratic political action committee, organized the demonstration. Theo organization describes itself as "a grassroots campaign to call on President Biden to step aside as the nominee for President and support the candidate best able to beat Trump."

On Friday, July 19, the organizers ran television advertisements urging Joe Biden to step aside. The ads were broadcast in the Washington DC area and the President's home state of Delaware.

By Saturday afternoon, the group was chanting, “Hey, hey! Ho ho! Thank you, Joe, it’s time to go!” in front of the White House. David Weigel of Semafor uploaded a video of the demonstration on X (formerly Twitter).

“We need a presidential nominee who has the best chance to beat Trump, and an increasingly large majority of Democrats believe that President Biden is not that candidate and should step aside,” Aaron Regunberg, a member of Pass The Torch, stated, Mediaite reported.

Regunberg added, “Tens of thousands of Democratic voters have made phone calls, sent emails, and held actions in battleground states through Pass the Torch. But the President still hasn’t gotten the message."

He went on to say, "That’s why we’re organizing something that’s harder to ignore—a demonstration in front of the White House. Because we have not resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency. We still have time to avert catastrophe and change course.”

The organization published posts on social media where protesters urged Biden to step down, citing his "declining poll numbers" and the risk of a Trump presidency.

Another questioned, "Where’s secret service when you need em."

One commentator, who accused the protesters of being MAGA supporters, asked, "Where are your MAGA hats? That’s who you are!"

"Wow, there must be at 20 of them there. What a bunch of clowns. You fools part of the problem, you are literally trying to steal votes. We have already decided who are nominee is. Go back home, you moms says dinner is ready," one person remarked.
