WASHINGTON, DC: The White House is currently managing the fallout from reports that Joe Biden's personal physician consulted with a leading neurologist and Parkinson's disease specialist.

Dr Kevin O'Connor, Biden's physician, deviated from normal procedures by issuing a letter on Monday, July 8, detailing the reasons for Dr Kevin Cannard's eight visits to the White House over the past eight months.

Joe Biden has consulted neurologist Dr Kevin Cannard three times since taking office

This disclosure followed intense speculation about Biden's health, which has been under scrutiny since his first debate with Donald Trump, exacerbated by press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre's confirmation that the president has consulted a neurologist three times.

Dr Cannard is a movement disorder specialist at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Maryland, Daily Mail reported.

On Monday, with the consent of both President Biden and Dr Cannard, O'Connor released a letter confirming that Dr Cannard has been the neurologist evaluating the president during his three physical examinations since taking office.

However, O'Connor noted that the majority of Dr Cannard's visits to the White House have been in his capacity as a specialist with the White House Medical Unit, where he has been treating a broad range of neurological issues for twelve years.

He said Cannard "has held regular Neurology Clinics at the White House Medical Clinic in support of the thousands of active-duty members assigned in support of White House operations.''

"Many military personnel experience neurological issues related to their service, and Dr Canard regularly visits the WHMU as part of this General Neurology practice, which may explain some of the visits," he added.

Dr Kevin Cannard has been visiting the White House since 2012

Cannard's visits to the White House were similar during the Obama administration, as indicated by visitor logs, and continued during the Trump administration, despite the absence of published logs, according to a source who requested anonymity.

In January, Cannard met with Biden's personal physician at the White House Residence clinic, shortly before the president's physical in February. O'Connor reiterated that the physical examination revealed no signs of any neurological disorder.

"President Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical," O'Connor stated in his letter.

He also praised Cannard for his contributions to the White House during his visits.

"Dr Cannard was chosen for this responsibility not because he is a movement disorder specialist, but because he is a highly trained and highly regarded neurologist here at Walter Reed and across the Military Health System, with a very wide expertise which makes him flexible to see a variety of patients and problems," he said.

Dr Cannard has held his position at the Walter Reed Center for nearly two decades and has been a neurology specialist supporting the White House Medical Unit since 2012, as stated on his LinkedIn profile.

President Biden is facing criticism from the Democratic Party regarding his mental fitness

President Biden is facing criticism from some within the Democratic Party regarding his mental sharpness to be their nominee against Trump in the November 5 presidential election.

This scrutiny intensifies following a challenging debate performance against Donald Trump. At 81, Biden is addressing rumors about his fitness to lead, affirming his intention to run in the upcoming election, yet he has not confirmed whether he is undergoing regular, official cognitive tests.

"Look, I have a cognitive test every single day," Biden said replying to ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Friday, July 5.

He addeed, "Every day, I have that test. Everything I do. You know, not only am I campaigning, but I'm running the world."

Records indicate that the president was at the White House on the day of the medical team's January meeting, which coincided with his hosting of House and Senate leaders to discuss additional funding for Ukraine.

In February, Biden's doctor gave him a clean bill of health, excluding Parkinson's disease, according to O'Connor. Since becoming the president's physician in 2021, he has daily interactions with him.

Post-debate, the White House reported that Biden verbally checked in with his doctor. However, doubts about his competency persist, particularly after his first interview post the June 27 debate, which did little to alleviate concerns.

Democrats suggest Joe Biden withdraw from the race

A number of Democrats have suggested Biden withdraw from the race after the debate, a sentiment they echoed following his recent ABC interview. The president and his wife have been accused of downplaying concerns about his mental state.

Jean-Pierre often found it difficult to be heard over the barrage of questions concerning the 81-year-old president's health.

She acknowledged that he had undergone three neurological examinations but declined to explain why a Parkinson's disease specialist had visited the White House eight times in as many months, citing privacy and security reasons.

This only incited further clamor from the typically subdued front row of reporters, who bombarded her with requests for a thorough explanation.

Internet mocks Dr Kevin O'Connor's statement

As soon as Daily Mail published the news, readers started reacting to it. A reader wrote, "My eyes and ears are not deceiving me. There is something mentally wrong with Biden! His disastrous policies are the reason I would never vote for him. I'm 72. Biden has been the worse President in my lifetime!"

Another added, "How dumb do they think we are, they actually want us to believe this was noting to do with Biden's dementia."

The third commentator wrote, "Democrats are doing everything they can to save this guy. I can't fathom why, worst president ever."

"They keep telling us that we're not seeing what we're seeing," One remarked.

A person mocked saying, "The Dr was just checking if Biden's hairy legs still turn blonde in the sun."
