WASHINGTON DC: A video of Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins enthusiastically supporting President Donald Trump's newly announced tariff policy has gone viral. The video quickly became the talk of the town as while Rollins was lauding the tariffs on live TV, in the background, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted.

This awkward moment came after Trump’s "Liberation Day" announcement on April 2, where he unveiled sweeping tariffs on more than 180 countries and territories. Despite the market's negative reaction, Rollins remained upbeat, expressing her excitement about Trump's leadership amid the economic turmoil.

Brooke Rollins feels 'very grateful for Trump's leadership' after newly announced tariff policy

Brooke Rollins became a viral sensation not only for her remarks but also for what was happening next to her during a live TV appearance.

As the Agriculture Secretary praised Donald Trump’s new tariff policy during an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo on Thursday, April 3, the Dow Jones was visibly plummeting by over 1,200 points.

The stark contrast between Rollins’ optimistic comments and the market’s sharp decline caught viewers’ attention. As she spoke, a ticker displayed the real-time drop, creating an awkward and viral moment.

Rollins expressed excitement about Trump’s leadership, stating, "While certainly the economy will be adjusting, the negotiations will continue. We are really, really excited, and very grateful for President Trump's leadership."

She added, "And being willing to be bold and fearless and facing some pretty big policy challenges around the world."

Rollins was also questioned about the administration’s response to rising egg prices, a hot topic in political discussions.

Rollins mentioned a recent initiative to stabilize supply, which included short-term imports and support for American poultry farmers. When asked by Bartiromo about potential tariffs on imported eggs from countries like Turkey and South Korea, Rollins was vague, replying, "Well yes, all to be determined. We're all at negotiations, but yes, that's a possibility."

Meanwhile, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick predicted that more countries would rethink their trade policies with the US, stopping what he described as "picking on us."

Todd Belt, a political expert from George Washington University's Graduate School of Political Management, explained that Trump’s tariff approach is rooted in promises to revive US industrial jobs, even though he believes this may not be entirely realistic, as per Newsweek.

Belt noted, "Most heavy industry has left the country, along with many well-paying, middle-class, union jobs. That's created a lot of resentment. Trump is promising to bring those jobs back—though I don't think that's realistic—and tariffs are his way of doing it."

Internet mocks Brooke Rollins' excitement over Donald Trump's tariff policy

After seeing the enthusiastic response from Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins to Donald Trump's new tariff plan, many quickly took to social media to mock and criticize her.

One user said, "We’re thrilled to take you back to the Stone Age—where you don't have to worry about food, clothing, and shelter. You’ll have nothing to worry about because you will have nothing to worry about. You’ll be beggars but your'll be beggars at home."

A user exclaimed, "How ironic!"

A user joked, "Red everywhere 🤣literal clowns in charge."

A user said sarcastically, "Also….We are so excited to be on the Titanic after it hit the iceberg."

Another shared, "This is what u call going down with the ship 🤣"

One individual remarked, "They take Trumps words as gospel, and no matter what the facts are, he is gods chosen one and cant be wrong."

Another echoed similar sentiments, "All of them are puppets of Trump."

A comment read, "Zombified magats."

A user expressed frustration, "Brooke Rollins cheers Trump while the Dow tanks 1,200 points. Tariffs are crushing farmers, and she’s clueless, ignoring the real pain in agriculture. What a disaster."
