LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jon Stewart returned to 'The Daily Show' on Monday with a pointed suggestion for Republicans frustrated by the Democratic Party's potential shift from President Joe Biden to Vice President Kamala Harris as the presumptive nominee.

He proposed that the GOP should consider replacing Donald Trump as their nominee “out of fairness.”

Jon Stewart suggests Republicans could replace Donald Trump

Jon Stewart acknowledged the Republicans’ dissatisfaction, stating, “I do understand that they’re upset. It makes sense.” He continued, “So how about we do this? Out of fairness! I’m a fair person. You can replace your old guy, too. That’s right.”

Stewart noted that Trump had reacted to the Democratic swap in “the Trumpiest way possible,” sharing a Truth Social post in which Trump said, “The party should be reimbursed for money it has spent to campaign against Biden.”

With the Republican Party now needing to adjust their strategy, Stewart suggested they reconsider their attacks. For instance, he referenced the claim that Harris “doesn’t like Jewish people,” to which the comedian, being Jewish himself, humorously pointed out, “Join the club! We’re getting crushed out there. Right now, I’m not even sure how much we like ourselves.” He also highlighted that Harris is married to a Jewish man.

Jon Stewart slams sexist attacks on Kamala Harris

The late-night host criticized the attacks on Kamala Harris’ personal life, describing accusations that she “slept her way to the top” as “so sexist.” He countered conservative claims that Harris isn’t a competent leader, remarking, “Your candidate’s Donald Trump!” and added, “His catchphrase is literally, ‘You’re fired!’ He’s the Anna Wintour of authoritarian wannabes.”

Stewart continued by emphasizing Trump's problematic record, saying, “Donald Trump hired 44 cabinet members, 75% of them want nothing to do with the guy. His secretary of state called him a f**king moron. His chief of staff said, ‘He’s the most flawed person I’ve ever met.’” He concluded with a jab at Trump's vice presidential choices, saying, “You know why he needs a new vice president as a running mate? I’ll tell you what, he tried to get the last one killed!”

Social media reactions

Social media reactions to the attacks on Kamala Harris and Jon Stewart's suggestion that the GOP could also replace former president Donald Trump reveals a spectrum of critical perspectives.

One user wrote, "This just in, the GOP continues to not know what do with women."

Another user added, "Donald Trump is very persuasive. He’s persuaded me to NEVER vote Republican again, no matter which office."

One user commented, "Trump is going to be 82 yrs old in office and picked a VP who is completely unfit to take his place. Disqualifying. Again."

One individual said, "They feel she's too young to be President, but too old to be a woman."

Another user replied, "He has also recently said at a rally that they won’t have to vote again because he will “fix it”.

One stated, "They know simulataniously not to be sexist or racist but literally cant help themselves. Shouting WOKE for a decade and still havent dispelled their own distrust for women and poc."

Another said, "They know what they want to do to women. It's not pretty."
