WASHINGTON, DC: Following President Joe Biden's reference to the Russia-Ukraine war in his D-Day anniversary speech, independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr slammed the president on Friday, June 7, stated The Hill.

During his address on Friday, Joe Biden posed several hypothetical questions concerning the reactions of D-Day veterans to the present state of affairs in Eastern Europe.

Joe Biden asked, "Does anyone doubt that they would want America to stand up against [Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s aggression here in Europe today? Does anyone believe these rangers would want America to go it alone today? Does anyone doubt they wouldn’t move heaven and earth to vanquish hateful ideologies of today?"

Notably, Biden also apologized for a delay in aid for the war-torn nation at a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine in France.

Kennedy, who has been an outspoken opponent of the United States providing more assistance to Ukraine, criticized the president, asserting that the situation in Ukraine is not comparable to World War II.

The independent candidate claimed in a social media post to be the only one running for office in 2024 who prioritizes "peace."

RFK Jr posted on X, "As Jeffrey Sachs pointed out in his recent interview with Tucker, the United States and NATO have engaged in ‘30 years of provocation, where we could not take peace for an answer. The situation in Ukraine today is not the same as World War II."

He added, "A President of the United States cannot blithely engage in a historical saber-rattling with a nuclear power. It endangers the world, damages our moral and intellectual standing, and dishonors the sacrifice of our soldiers. Peace goes arm in arm with the truth. I am the only candidate in this race who makes that a priority."

Moreover, Kennedy has been diligently pursuing qualification to join Biden and former President Trump in the debate later this month. Additionally, he has argued that the incumbent should withdraw from the contest, citing surveys that indicate he has a greater chance of defeating the former president.

The independent contender has further contended that it is an affront to democracy to exclude him from the discussions.

In May, FK Jr posted on X, "Presidents Trump and Biden are colluding to lock America into a head-to-head match-up that 70% say they do not want. They are trying to exclude me from their debate because they are afraid I would win. Keeping viable candidates off the debate stage undermines democracy."

His campaign announced on Friday that they had reached eligibility for 270 Electoral College votes and had collected the necessary signatures to qualify for the ballot in Minnesota.

According to the campaign, they are eligible to vote in nine states and have gathered enough signatures in at least ten more.
