WASHINGTON, DC: Former independent presidential candidate turned Trump ally Robert F Kennedy Jr stated that Donald Trump lost the Tuesday, September 10, debate against Kamala Harris as he was not able to make "an airtight argument for his presidency."

The GOP and Democratic nominees faced each other for their first presidential debate against each other in the 2024 election cycle. The debate was hosted by ABC News in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 10.

According to Mediaite, the Vice President was successful in baiting the former president to vent his personal grievances on the debate stage. During the debate, Trump even mentioned a debunked rumor about Haitian migrants in Ohio abducting and consuming pets at one point, leading to wider criticism.

RFK Jr's remarks in the aftermath of the debate

RFK Jr, who suspended his own presidential campaign to endorse Trump last month, told Fox News host Neil Cavuto on Wednesday, September 11, that the Democratic nominee was the clear winner of the previous night's debate.

“I think that Vice President Harris clearly won the debate in terms of her delivery, her polish, her organization, and her preparation,” he stated.

“I think on substance, President Trump wins in terms of his governance, but he didn’t tell that story."

"In fact, the first question was an extraordinary lost opportunity because it was a question… which is, are Americans better off four years later? And there’s really no argument for saying that they are.”

While slamming the current administration for issues such as the high cost of living, rise in suicide rates, and wars in Ukraine and Gaza, RFK Jr shared that Trump was not able to articulate them to make his case stronger.

“And all of these things can be attributed to the poor leadership from the Biden-Harris team, and that’s the argument he should’ve been making. But he got distracted and I think it’s unfortunate because I think he really had an airtight argument for his presidency. But he was not able to make that case to the American public,” he added.

Internet trolls RFK Jr for claiming Donald Trump could win on governance

Social media users took to X (formerly Twitter) to slam RFK Jr for claiming Donald Trump could have turned the outcome of the debate had he spoken about his policies.

"What governance? What story? Oh, I almost forgot. Letting 1 million Americans die during the freakin pandemic!" wrote one social media user.

"He didn’t tell that story in the four years he was president. You know who did tell their stories? A ridiculous amount of people who worked for him who all said the same thing, that he’s unfit," shared another.

"He wins on substance?! Oh come on," one person commented.

"What a joke," wrote another.

"He won with what he didn’t show? Ummm that’s not how this works," stated one individual.

"With his governance? Does Bobby jr think chaos is good governance?" asked another.

"We saw Trump’s governance and it sucked. That’s why we chose not to reelect him," one comment read.
