PODGORICA, MONTENEGRO: Ricky Martin had a tense moment during his European concert on Thursday, May 21, after an alleged tear gas incident near the stage disrupted the performance. The incident unfolded while the singer was performing as part of his ‘Ricky Martin Live Tour’, forcing an immediate pause in the show.

Martin’s representative later confirmed that the singer was safe following the sudden disruption. The unexpected chaos triggered panic among fans, with organizers stepping in quickly to manage the situation inside the venue.

Martin’s representative, Rondine Alcala, shared a statement on Instagram assuring fans that the singer was safe after the incident during the Europe tour opener, as per Page Six. The statement has reportedly been deleted now.

Explaining what happened during the concert, the statement read, "During Ricky Martin’s concert tonight in Montenegro - where the artist was kicking off the European leg of his 'Ricky Martin Live' tour - an individual discharged tear gas toward the stage, causing an abrupt interruption of the show."

The statement further added, "Audience members moved away from the area and received assistance. As a precautionary measure, Ricky Martin and his entire team immediately exited the stage."

It also noted how security and local authorities responded quickly to control the situation. "Security personnel and local authorities worked to contain the situation and ensure the safety of those in attendance."

According to the statement, Martin was advised not to continue performing but later returned once the situation was under control. "The Grammy winner, 54, was advised against continuing the performance," but he still returned "in order to fulfill his commitment to fans."

The note also confirmed that upcoming shows on the tour are still scheduled as planned.

Ricky Martin to perform at UK concert after a decade

Martin is currently touring across Europe and North America, with several major performances lined up in the coming months. One of the biggest highlights includes his upcoming UK show at the Sandringham Estate on August 22, marking his first UK performance in nearly 10 years.

According to The Independent, the ‘Livin’ La Vida Loca’ singer will headline the HeritageLive Festival at the Royal Norfolk venue. The festival will also feature performances from Lionel Richie on August 20 and Eric Clapton on August 23.
