WASHINGTON, DC: Robert De Niro praised Letitia James for confronting Donald Trump with a blunt 'f**k you,' while launching his own blistering attack on the president.

In a fiery Sunday (October 19) interview on MSNBC’s 'The Weekend,' De Niro called Trump an “alien” devoid of empathy and accused him of trying to tear the country apart.

His strong backing of James comes just weeks after her indictment on mortgage fraud charges.

'Raging Bull' star Robert De Niro expressed strong support for several top Democrats, including California Governor Gavin Newsom, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Representative Hakeem Jeffries, and Representative Adam Schiff.

But it was his passionate endorsement of New York Attorney General Letitia James that made headlines.

As he praised James for standing up to Donald Trump, De Niro dropped an F-bomb live on air: “Hakeem Jeffries, I like. Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, they’re all great, strong."

"I like what Letitia James is doing. She’s fighting back. She’s saying f**k you.” he declared.

Justice Arthur Engoron ruled against the former president finding him liable for conspiring to manipulating his networth and fining him $335 million and imposing a three year ban from serving in top roles at any NY company. The expletive appeared to catch co-hosts Eugene Daniels and Jonathan Capehart off guard, with one audibly reacting, “Oop!”

Apologizing for the outburst, De Niro placed a hand on his chest and added, “I’m sorry — this is where we’re at. It’s what she’s saying: ‘This is it. I will not be taken down by this person. I am not afraid of him.’ And God bless her for that.”

He went on to warn that ICE agents or, as he put it, “those ICE guys” — “better not mess” with James. De Niro’s vocal support comes just weeks after James was indicted on criminal charges related to mortgage fraud.

Letitia James accuses Trump of weaponizing the DOJ

New York Attorney General Letitia James has pushed back strongly against President Donald Trump following her indictment on mortgage fraud charges, accusing him of weaponizing the Department of Justice for political gain.

A long-time critic of Trump, James previously filed a civil lawsuit against him in 2023, accusing him of business fraud.

In a video statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), James dismissed the charges as politically motivated. “This is nothing more than a continuation of the president's desperate weaponization of our justice system,” she wrote. “I am not fearful — I am fearless.”

Vowing to fight the allegations, James declared, “We will fight these baseless charges aggressively and my office will continue to fiercely protect New Yorkers and their rights.”

In the video, she accused Trump of misusing federal law enforcement agencies to target her for simply doing her job. “These charges are baseless,” she said, adding that Trump’s own public remarks make clear that his actions are driven by “political retribution at any cost.”

As James leveled accusations against him, Trump appointed his former personal attorney, Lindsey Halligan, to lead the case following the resignation of US prosecutor Erik Siebert.

Sources say Siebert was removed after he informed the Justice Department that there was insufficient evidence to bring charges against James. Her first court appearance is scheduled for October 24 in Norfolk.
