WASHINGTON, DC: Former independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr—who has joined forces with Republican nominee Donald Trump—made a surprising revelation about what the former president thinks of the controversial Project 2025.

In a recent interview on the 'All-In' podcast, Kennedy recounted a conversation with Trump in which the former president distanced himself from the controversial document and its far-right agenda.

What Donald Trump said about Project 2025

Robert F Kennedy Jr shared that Donald Trump told him he had never even heard of Project 2025 until it was brought to his attention by Democrats, who began linking him to the document.

“[Trump] brought this issue up to me and he said ‘You know they’re always telling me I’m for Project 2025. I never read Project 2025 until they started accusing me of it,'" Kennedy said.

“He said that was written by a right-wing a*****e. That’s what he is. He said they’re left-wing a**holes and there are right-wing a**holes and it was a right-wing a**hole who wrote that thing and then he started going through it," the former independent candidate added.

Despite Trump’s strong words, it remains unclear who exactly he was referring to when discussing the authorship of Project 2025. The document was reportedly a collaborative effort, with at least 20 authors and more than 100 contributors involved in its conception.

It's worth noting that Project 2025 was developed by the Heritage Foundation, a far-right think tank with a long history of influencing conservative policy. The 900-page document outlines a radical agenda for a conservative presidency that includes plans to overhaul the United States government by replacing civil servants with loyalists, eliminating key federal agencies, and consolidating power within the executive branch.

Although Trump has a longstanding relationship with the Heritage Foundation, he has tried to distance himself from Project 2025. The former president has said that he had “no idea who is behind it” and that he knows “nothing” about the document.

Regardless, a CNN analysis revealed that at least 140 individuals who worked for Trump were involved in Project 2025.

The Trump campaign has consistently maintained that Project 2025 does not represent Trump's agenda, noting that “any personnel lists, policy agendas, or government plans published anywhere are merely suggestions.”

Democrats have seized upon the document as a tool to campaign against Trump, pointing out its more unpopular ideas as evidence of what a second Trump presidency might entail.

Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign recently released an ad directly linking Project 2025 with Trump, suggesting that its radical proposals are indicative of the direction he would take the country toward if reelected.

At the Democratic National Convention, several speakers brought the document on stage and used it as a prop to illustrate their arguments against Trump. They noted some of the more extreme proposals in the document, warning that Trump would implement these changes if given the chance, the Independent reported.

Robert F Kennedy Jr says Donald Trump has 'changed as a person'

In his 'All-In' podcast appearance, Robert F Kennedy Jr suggested that Donald Trump is now more focused on his legacy and is listening to a “wider range of voices".

“I think he’s interested in his legacy now,” Kennedy said. “He wants to leave behind some accomplishments and he wants to make our country better. And I think he’s, you know, he’s listening to a wider range of voices."

"He’s preparing to govern right now. And, you know, I’ll be on the transition committee picking the people who are going to govern…There’s going to be a wide diversity of stakeholders. But he’s listening to more than just that narrow right wing.”

Kennedy also insisted that if Trump were to win another term, the American people would see a “very different President Trump” than they did during his first term.

“I think he’s changed as a person. And I’ve known him for, you know, 30 years,” Kennedy added. “But I think he is, he’s focused on his legacy.”

Kennedy is a part of Trump's transition team, which includes notable figures such as former Representative Tulsi Gabbard, as well as Trump’s adult sons, Donald Trump Jr and Eric Trump.
