Sandra Bullock says she doesn’t ‘remember much of’ her 2010 Oscar win while caring for son
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sandra Bullock has reflected on the time when she became an Oscar winner but does not remember much of it because of her personal circumstances.
The 62-year-old actress was recognized by the Academy Awards in 2010 for her performance in 2009’s ‘The Blind Side’. It was also around the time she adopted her son, Louis, and divorced her husband, Jesse James.
Sandra Bullock recalls Oscar win with secret newborn
On Thursday, September 10, Bullock appeared on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’. When host Mark Consuelos asked her what she remembered most about her winning night, she replied, “Nothing.”
To which Kelly Ripa said, “Nobody does.”
Bullock, whose ‘Practical Magic 2’ was recently released, then explained, “Well, I had maybe two hours of sleep? I was hiding a newborn. No one knew I had Lou, and he had acid reflux, so he slept only every two hours. So I don’t remember much of the night.”
‘The Proposal’ star also shared, “But I do know that I wanted to get home because I wanted to do the feeding, because I knew who was there with him was probably struggling.”
Sandra Bullock recalls wearing Oscars gown at home
Bullock shed more light on the reality of being a new mother and disclosed that even after getting home, she forgot to change out of her Oscars gown.
“I was there in the dress, and I couldn’t get out of the dress, so I just sat in the dress with Lou. [The] Oscar was on the floor and Lou was on my lap. It was the best way to have that night because it was so overwhelming in general. I think it would have been more overwhelming had I not been so tired. And I just wanted to go home,” the film producer added.

Elsewhere during the interview, Consuelos asked Bullock what excuse she gave for leaving the Oscars early, and she said, “I couldn’t leave the Oscars early. We went to the afterparty, and then we had to wait to get the little name put on there. And I was like, ‘Can we just hurry up the name?’ And then we said ‘Hi,’ and then I took off.”
“And they all thought, ‘Oh, she’s tired. She’s tired.’ And I was tired! But I just wanted to get home to a little person that no one knew about,” she recalled.
Sandra Bullock says children remain her priority
Though Bullock adopted her son in early 2010, she made the news public only in April of that year. Around the same time, she also disclosed her divorce from James.
The ‘Miss Congeniality’ star became a mother for the second time in 2015 after adopting a girl named Laila.
For Bullock, there’s nothing more important than her children. She once reportedly asserted, “If the kids can’t be with me, I’m not going. The older they get, the bigger their schedules. And their schedules are more important than me telling a story, period.”
