Saoirse Ronan weighs in on Jack Lowden’s rumored James Bond casting
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Saoirse Ronan has addressed rumors surrounding her husband Jack Lowden’s potential casting as the next James Bond during a recent interview.
Speaking with Associated Press, Ronansaid Lowden’s ‘Slow Horses’ costar Gary Oldman “thinks he’s James Bond” but she claimed that “that’s] its own thing.”

The 32-year-old further continued, “We’re kind of getting on with our life, to be honest. We have plenty of other things to be dealing with. So, yeah, it’s not really a subject that’s coming up in our house, to be honest.”
“The dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made — we’re most focused on that,” Ronan added.
The ‘Lady Bird’ star also noted that her 36-year-old actor husband is “currently having a good time” shooting for new episodes of ‘Slow Horses.’
Gary Oldman said Jack Lowden was rumored to be on the Bond shortlist
Ronan’s clarification came after Oldman told Canada’s Global News last month, “It’s been rumored that he’s on the shortlist. We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him. They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack.”
Speaking with filmmaker Josh Horowitz, Oldman also stated that he had “heard a rumor that they’ve picked James Bond, but they haven’t announced it yet, which is their prerogative.”
Oldman, however, mentioned that even if he knew who would be the next James Bond, he’s “not going to open my mouth. So I do not know who, but I’m hoping it’s Jack.”
Saoirse Ronan wanted to play a Bond villain
Meanwhile, in August, Ronan expressed her desire to play a villain in a James Bond movie.
She told Empire, “I want to go dark. I said that I wanted to be a Bond villain and I’m dead serious.”
“I think it would be really interesting, having a young female villain. Especially for girls and women, to see someone who can just take all that pent-up anger and direct it somewhere, there’s something interesting in that dramatically. So I would love to do more of that,” the Golden Globe Award winning actress explained at the time.
Besides, in September, Ronan shared that she would really want to work with her husband.
She told PEOPLE, “I mean, I would love for us to work together again. I’ve said to him I really want him to do a play with me because he’s so incredible on stage and that’s where he really comes to life,” before adding, “I mean, listen, we met through work and we’ve produced stuff together, and we’re very much a part of one another’s work life as well as personal life.”
