ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Conservative commentator Scott Jennings slammed critics calling President Donald Trump "fascist" by resurfacing a past comment from Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

Speaking on CNN's Newsnight with Abby Phillip, Jennings contrasted AOC seeking to defy the Supreme Court it with President Donald Trump publicly agreeing to comply with a court ruling

Jennings captioned the post as “AOC IN 2023: The Biden Administration should ignore the Supreme Court. TRUMP IN 2026: I will comply with the Supreme Court. Tell me again, who actually has ‘fascist’ tendencies?”

Scott Jennings exposes false narratives

In the CNN segment, Jennings argued that the ruling demonstrated institutional checks working as designed.

“I just think we ought to acknowledge something,” Jennings said. “This is a properly functioning government.”

He described the sequence plainly: the president made a policy decision, the Supreme Court reviewed it, and the justices ruled against it.

“The President of the United States, the head of the executive branch, made a policy decision. The Supreme Court that renders legal opinions about these kinds of decisions made a decision. They said, ‘You can't do that.’ The President of the United States said, ‘Okay, I agree, and I will acknowledge your decision. I am going to use a different statute to try to do what I want to do.’”

Jennings emphasized that, in his view, that exchange represents constitutional order and not democratic erosion.

Scott Jennings attacks Trump's critics

Jennings then turned his focus to critics who have argued the Supreme Court operates as a political extension of Trump.

“For every Democrat and every media person that has gone on for the last year or two about how the Supreme Court is a wholly owned subsidiary of Donald Trump, that it's not independent, that it does whatever he says to do, obviously, that narrative was obliterated.”

He said the ruling undercut two recurring claims: that the court lacks independence and that Trump would refuse to obey an adverse decision.

“To me, I thought the ruling was sound. I think the President is sound to try other statutes. I think the narrative about the court not being independent and the President not obeying the court were totally blown up.”
