WASHINGTON, DC: CNN‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ political commentator Scott Jennings went after the Democrats with a sharp tongue on Friday, December 12.

He charged the Democrats with trying to build a narrative that President Donald Trump was part of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal or that he controlled some aspects of it, a claim that Jennings called baseless and made up by the Democrats for political purposes.

The statements were made amid the uproar over the new photos and document disclosures of the late financier and convicted offender.

Epstein-Trump connection reenters public debate

It‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ has long been known that Trump and Epstein were friends for years. On Friday, it again became a subject of the news after photos from Epstein's estate were released by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee.

The pictures depict Epstein with many prominent people; among them are Trump, former president Bill Clinton, economist Larry Summers, film director Woody Allen, and former Trump adviser Steve Bannon.

When asked for his reaction on Friday, Trump said, “I know nothing about it.”

Scott Jennings says many of the released photos are ‘frivolous’

On‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ CNN’s ‘The Source', Kaitlan Collins asked Jennings the same question several hours later about the Department of Justice’s July decision to refuse the release of the Epstein files and how that decision looked after the newest photo ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌dump.

Jennings slammed the release of the photos, calling some of them “frivolous.” He added that the Democrats on the House Oversight Committee are driven solely by a desire to harm Trump.

“Ok, so if it’s hard to discern that, then why are you releasing it?… Many of these pictures are frivolous, publicly available pictures, or pictures that were taken in public spaces that clearly have nothing to do with the victims or what happened to them, or the people who perpetrated crimes against them,” said Jennings. “They have only one thing to do with it, and that’s smearing Donald Trump.”

Jennings‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌ additionally pointed out that Trump himself had signed the law that requires the DOJ to unveil its files on Epstein, something that Trump is able to do anytime he wants without needing permission from Congress.

The president was against the bill at first but changed his mind when it became obvious that it would be ‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌passed.

“They have tried to create a narrative that Trump had something to do with Epstein. And all we now know is that a lot of Democrats have something to do with Epstein, whether it was Summers or Obama’s lawyer, who was Epstein’s great defender, apparently, or on and on and on and on,” said Jennings.
