Sean 'Diddy' Combs released from solitary confinement after fight with fellow inmate
BURLINGTON COUNTY, NEW JERSEY: Sean “Diddy” Combs has been released from solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey after being placed there following an alleged fight with another inmate earlier last month.
The music mogul remains incarcerated while serving a 50-month sentence after his federal trial and is currently scheduled for release on February 20, 2028, following several changes to his release date.

Sources with direct knowledge told TMZ that Combs was released from solitary confinement at FCI Fort Dix after the reported altercation. It remains unclear whether he will face any additional disciplinary action stemming from the alleged fight.
The incident was previously reported by NBC News and TMZ, with the latter reporting that the fight began after another inmate insulted Combs and was quickly stopped by prison staff. He is serving his sentence at the low-security federal facility, which is located on a military base outside Philadelphia.
He was sentenced to 50 months in prison in October 2025 after being convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in illegal activities. Jurors acquitted him of more serious charges.
His release date has changed several times. The Federal Bureau of Prisons previously listed dates including April 15, April 25 and June 4, 2028. In June, the date was moved to February 23, 2028, before being updated again on August 4 to February 20, 2028.
No explanation has been given for the multiple changes, and it remains unclear whether the reported fight will affect his release date. Combs is participating in a rehabilitation program at FCI Fort Dix while his legal team appeals his conviction and sentence, calling the punishment excessive and seeking acquittal or resentencing.

Combs reportedly requested Fort Dix so he could be closer to his family. About 14 months he spent at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after his arrest counted as time served.
In an October 2025 court filing, attorney Teny Geragos wrote, “In order to address substance use issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix.”
Participation in the Treatment Program can reduce an inmate’s sentence by up to a year, according to the Bureau of Prisons. His mother, Janice Combs, previously criticized Netflix’s four-part docuseries 'Sean Combs: The Reckoning,' which was released December 2, 2025.
In a statement to Deadline, she described the series as containing “lies” and “inaccuracies” and wrote that the material about her son’s upbringing and family life was “intentionally done to mislead viewers and further harm our reputation.”
One day before the docuseries’ release, Combs’ spokesperson Juda Engelmayer called the project a “shameful hit piece,” claiming Netflix relied on stolen footage that was never authorized for release. He also criticized the involvement of longtime rival Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson as a producer, calling the project an “unnecessary and deeply personal affront.”
