Sean 'Diddy' Combs placed in solitary confinement after fight with fellow inmate: Reports
TRENTON, NEW JERSEY: Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly been placed in solitary confinement after an altercation with another inmate at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey, according to NBC News and TMZ, citing a source.
The incident occurred after another inmate insulted the music mogul, with prison staff quickly intervening to stop the fight. Combs is currently serving a federal prison sentence following his 2025 conviction while continuing to challenge the verdict through an ongoing appeal.

According to multiple sources, Combs was placed in solitary confinement after the reported fight with a fellow inmate at FCI Fort Dix, a low-security federal prison situated on a military base outside Philadelphia. TMZ reported that the altercation began after another inmate insulted him and was quickly stopped by prison staff.
It remains unclear whether the reported incident will affect his projected release date. Combs is currently scheduled to be released on February 23, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website. The projected release date has been revised several times over the past year, having previously been listed as June 4, 2028, then April 25, 2028, followed by April 15, 2028, before being moved to February 2028.
While the Bureau of Prisons has not publicly explained the latest adjustment, Combs has been participating in a rehabilitation programme while incarcerated at Fort Dix.
His attorneys had previously requested that he be placed at the facility because of its treatment programmes and proximity to family. "In order to address substance use issues and to maximize family visitation and rehabilitative efforts, we request that the court strongly recommend to the Bureau of Prisons that Mr Combs be placed at FCI Fort Dix," attorney Teny Geragos wrote in an October 2025 court filing.
Combs is serving a 50-month prison sentence imposed in October 2025 after he was convicted following a closely watched federal trial that summer. He received credit for the time he spent in custody in New York before the trial.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs continues appeal as family remains supportive
Despite the changes to his projected release date, Combs' legal battle remains ongoing. His attorneys formally appealed both his conviction and sentence last December, arguing that the interactions at the center of the case were consensual and that the punishment imposed by the court was excessive.
In a March appellate filing, his lawyers described the sentence as a "perversion of justice". They argued for his “immediate release and a judgment of acquittal or at least vacate and remand for resentencing.”
Federal prosecutors have urged the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit to reject those arguments. In court documents obtained, prosecutors argued that Combs was a repeat offender and that the trial judge properly considered evidence presented during the proceedings when determining the sentence.
The appeal remains pending before the Second Circuit, and attorneys for Combs did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Combs has also continued to receive visits from family while in prison. His son, Justin Combs, visited him at Fort Dix on Christmas Day, December 25, according to his representative, Juda Engelmayer.
“Justin visited him yesterday,” Engelmayer said, adding, “They talked and caught up on life with each other. They talked about dealing with the hard times now and reflecting on the past and learning from it and how to do better in the future.”
