Vance jokes, then backtracks after calling Sean 'Diddy' a ‘great Christian theologian’
Q: You have a chapter titled "More Money, More Problems." Why does more money sometimes cause more problems?

WASHINGTON, DC: One wrong move, and JD Vance's political ascent could have come crashing down.
The 41-year-old Vice President appeared eager to avoid a political firestorm as he wasted little time distancing himself from his quip after calling Sean 'Diddy' Combs a "great Christian theologian.”
Vance nearly quotes Diddy
Vance, who is currently on a tour promoting his new book, was speaking at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library when Foundation CEO Jim Byron questioned him on the title of one of his chapters in ‘Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith’—"More Money, More Problems."
"Why does more money sometimes cause more problems?" asked Byron.
Vance quipped, "That's the wisdom of the great Christian theologian P Diddy," before abruptly stopping mid-thought, seemingly realizing the remark could land him in hot water.
"Who, as we found out over the last couple of years, is very much not a Christian or a theologian," he continued.
As the audience laughed, Vance said, "I'm going to get in trouble for all kinds of things. That will be in an attack ad at some point in the future."
Diddy has remained a deeply controversial and disgraced public figure since a federal court in Manhattan sentenced him last year to 50 months in prison on charges related to transporting women for prostitution.
Earlier this month, authorities stated that they are reviewing additional sexual assault allegations against Sean.
“In the fall of 2025, LAPD and LASD each presented a separate sexual assault investigation for one victim to the LA County District Attorney’s office,” said a spokesperson for Nathan Hochman, the Los Angeles County District Attorney, in a statement, confirming that the office was reviewing the allegations.
Vance praised Trump’s handling of the Iran conflict
Vance used his appearance at the Presidential Library to praise Donald Trump's leadership, applauding his boss’s handling of the Iran conflict that unfolded following the joint US-Israeli attack months earlier.
“They’re constantly trying to change the mission that Donald Trump set for us," he said.
“What did he say at the outset? ‘I want to destroy their conventional military. I want to eliminate their ability to project power. And I want to ensure that they never have a nuclear weapon,’” he added, outlining their administration’s objectives.
He said some had urged the administration to pursue different objectives. “What I’ve seen is some people trying to say, ‘Well, that’s great, but you should have a different objective,’" the vice-president said.
Vance argued that Trump's unwavering commitment to the mission was key to the administration's overall approach. “I think the reason the president has been so successful is that he refuses to give in to that impulse," he said.
Vance concluded by saying, “That’s what he’s asked us to do. It’s not over yet, but so far, so good."
