WASHINGTON, DC: The United States Secret Service has assigned a new code name, 'Bobcat,' to vice presidential candidate Sen JD Vance, according to information provided by a friend to the Daily Mail.

Notably, following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, the Secret Service is still under investigation and has faced criticism from several politicians.

Secret Service gives code name 'Bobcat' to JD Vance

First ladies, vice presidents, and other prominent individuals have been protected by the Secret Service and assigned code names since the 1900s.

Moreover, the White House Communications Agency provides a list of codenames for candidates to choose from. These names are designed to be easily communicated over the radio, as they are straightforward to pronounce. They are often personal and reflective of the candidate's character.

Vance has previously drawn criticism for various controversial remarks, such as referring to Democratic women as a "bunch of childless cat ladies with miserable lives" who are "making the country miserable too."

According to Alberta's government website, bobcats are usually shy around humans. Interestingly, this cat species is also native to Ohio, Senator Vance's home state.

Moreover, Vance has a long history of supporting Ohio football. He went to Ohio State University which is also home of the Bobcats, the school's football team.

Internet trolls JD Vance as Secret Service gives him code name 'Bobcat'

Many people on the internet took jibes at JD Vance after the US Secret Service gave him the code name "Bobcat." Some found it ironic given his "bunch of childless cat ladies" remark, while others suggested alternative code names for him.

A user wrote on X, "Flipper was ready taken?" while one added, "Those will probably get changed since they’re normally not publicized."

A person also stated, "What’s the point of giving a code name if everyone knows what it is?" whereas one mentioned, "How ironic that it's BobCAT."

A user also commented, "His codename is Couch," while one said, "Code name: Dolphin."

A person wrote, "Why not CouchPotato?" whereas one added, "Bobcat after cat lady comments? Ok."
