WASHINGTON, DC: As former president Donald Trump's criminal hush money cover-up trial heats up, former Playboy model Karen McDougal made a reference to Donald Trump on Saturday, May 4. McDougal is alleged to have had an affair with the former president, according to Raw Story.

Notably, McDougal is not directly connected to the accusations, however, her story has been extensively addressed during Trump's criminal trial to provide prosecutors with background information for charging document fraud regarding an identical scheme involving adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Karen McDougal delivers rare Donald Trump reference as trial heats up

According to a review by Raw Story, McDougal has not posted about Trump in at least a year. Usually, she uses her X account to discuss Jesus or sports. That completely changed on Saturday.

McDougal stated in a straightforward tweet with a one-word caption, 'Reflecting', and attached a picture of herself in the bathtub.

She can be seen reading 'Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators' while sitting in the bathtub in the photo, along with a candle and a glass of wine. 'Catch and Kill: Lies, Spies, and a Conspiracy to Protect Predators' is the title of Ronan Farrow's book. Farrow has written about Trump's and other celebrities' habit of purchasing contentious stories to 'kill' them and avoid negative publicity.

When Karen McDougal's lawyer testified about his efforts to sell her story

In his testimony, Keith Davidson discussed his early attempts to market Karen McDougal's story of her year-long affair with Donald Trump. Davidson, the attorney representing McDougal at the time, attempted to sell the story to American Media Inc., the publishing firm of the National Enquirer, according to Politico.

In June 2016, Davidson texted Dylan Howard, the chief editor of the National Enquirer saying, "I have a blockbuster Trump story," according to a string of text messages presented by prosecutors.

Howard replied, "Talk first thing. I will get you more than anyone for it. You know why," while adding two questions 'Did he cheat on Melania?' and 'Do you know if the affair was during his marriage to Melania?'

Davidson answered, "I really cannot say yet. Sorry."

When questioned by the prosecution, Davidson acknowledged that McDougal's accusation involved a romantic and sexual affair, despite his repeated description of the purported affair as a 'personal interaction' and his failure to elaborate.
