WASHINGTON, DC: Former White House aide Stephanie Grisham said that when Hope Hicks was responding to inquiries concerning the steps used to shield the campaign and Donald Trump's family from alleged affairs, she felt that former POTUS was looking tensed, as reported by Raw Story.

Talking about Hicks, former political advisor to Trump, Grisham said, "All I could think was that again, she was in such the inner circle, especially there in the very beginning. And she was privy to so many conversations and so many people — and all I could think was that he was wondering was 'What else she could say?'"

When Hicks first stepped on the witness stand in the Lower Manhattan courtroom, it was obvious that she was nervous. In the end, as the prosecution finished its line of questioning, she started crying.

She had described how the Stormy Daniels issue was handled and that "it was better to be dealing with it now and it would have been bad to have that story come out before the election," just before her emotions got the better of her.

Daniels claimed that she had a sexual encounter with Trump and received $130,000 to be quiet just weeks before the 2016 election. Trump stands accused of fabricating business records of that six-figure amount with the help of his former lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, in an attempt to rig the outcome of the presidential election.

Notably, the former POTUS pleaded not guilty and denied having any affair with Daniels.

Talking about Hicks' testimony in the hush money trial, Grisham said, "I think it was very clear that she didn't want to say too much. She only answered the questions that were asked of her and she didn't really expand on them."

To get an insight into Trump's psyche, Grisham thinks that the former POTUS knows that Hicks is well aware of the many years of his life that have remained private and that anything may happen under oath.

She remarked, "I imagine that he was a little worried about what else was going to come out of her mouth," noting that Hicks was not only discussing the past but doing it under oath.

Grisham also pointed out that Hicks was "closer to him than almost anyone during the campaign and presidency."

Internet reacts to Hope Hicks' testimony in Donald Trump's hush money trial

Netizens shared their perspective regarding long-time Trump aide Hicks' testimony in the ongoing trial, with one saying, "Trump is guilty. He should drop out of the race."

Another added, "And seems like she didn't want to say it and still has feelings for Trump. Devastating."

A person expressed, "I like the woman. I think she's pretty genuine. People are saying she still likes Trump is still loyal. I don't think so. She could have said she didn't know, didn't remember, a number of times. She cried because she was relieved."

Someone else declared, "Guilty Trump for jail 2024," and an individual shared, "Hope Hicks has the credibility that Michael Cohen doesn’t. Trump is sunk. Hence her crying."
