NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: In a scathing critique, Stephanie Grisham, a former aide to Melania Trump and ex-White House press secretary, lambasted the former first lady's decision to launch a jewelry line while her husband Donald Trump's criminal trial kicked off.

During an appearance on CNN's 'Erin Burnett OutFront' on Monday, April 22, Grisham expressed disbelief at the timing of the necklace launch, calling it "not a very good look," as reported by The Hill.

"Had I been advising her, I would have said a couple of things: No. 1, this is the first day of your husband's criminal trial and you're going to hawk some jewelry. Probably not a very good look. And then yeah, I would have at least said 'Hey, how are we going to give this to some kind of an initiative for children?'" Grisham said on CNN.

On Sunday, April 21, Melania's office unveiled the release of a $245 'Her Love & Gratitude' necklace, strategically timed for Mother's Day next month. In a statement, the former first lady expressed that the jewelry sale aimed to "express immense gratitude and honor all mothers."

"She's doing it for herself," Grisham told Burnett, dismissing the notion that the proceeds would go towards former President Trump's legal defense.

Grisham suggested that a portion of the sales could have been allocated to initiatives benefiting children or causes such as Alzheimer's or cancer research, given the recent passing of Melania's mother, Amalija Knavs.

"Instead," she continued, "it just says, 'Here you go. Buy this for $245.'"

The hush-money criminal trial involving Trump began on Monday in New York City, where he is confronted with 34 felony charges linked to the falsification of business records. Trump has denied all allegations leveled against him.

Internet rallies behind Stephanie Grisham's critique of Melania Trump

The internet swiftly rallied behind Grisham's critique and slammed Melania.

One X user bluntly stated, "No. She's looking for her escape money." Another commenter speculated, "Melania is in the marriage for the prestige and lifestyle. Once it's gone, she's gone."

A user remarked, "It is tacky but there again the whole Trump family are nothing but grifters."

Another echoed this sentiment, stating, "She is a woman of no substance just a grifter like her husband."

A commenter asserted, "It's obvious she is grifting for herself. She needs to accumulate as much money as possible to maintain her lifestyle without stinky Trump."

Another user commented, "It’s a whole family of grifting crooks. There’s not one Trump that can deem themselves better than the other."

A user wrote, "It was just a matter of time before Melania fully embraced the Trump family grifting traits. Absolutely, NO SHAME!" [sic]

Lastly, one user criticized, "More Trump grifting. Now it’s a fake gold necklace with Melania’s name engraved on it! None of the Trumps seem to know how to actually work for a living. They’d rather fleece their ignorant magats." [sic]
