WASHINGTON, DC: Police arrested climate activists for occupying the street outside Vice President Kamala Harris' residence in Brentwood, California, on Monday, April 15th, according to Daily Mail.

Notably, approximately 40 protestors from the Sunrise Movement chanted anti-Harris slogans and urged the Biden administration to declare a climate emergency to implement stricter measures to address climate change.

The group posted videos of its activists singing slogans on social media. They wrote, "We're occupying the street outside VP Harris' home to demand she join us in calling on Biden to declare a climate emergency."

Significantly, one banner bore the message "Fund climate action, not genocide," reflecting their dissatisfaction with the Biden administration's financial support for Israel's Gaza War.

Remaining in the street near Harris's residence throughout the night, the group continued their protest.

Despite endorsing policies like the Green New Deal during her 2020 presidential campaign, Harris's lack of action on climate change left many feeling disheartened, leading to widespread frustration

Due to a planned campaign trip to Las Vegas, Nevada, Harris' convoy was forced to take a different route on Monday from her residence to the Los Angeles Airport.

Moreover, the protesters screamed, "Harris, Harris, can't you see, this is an emergency," claiming that "fossil fuels are killing me."

Police took six of the campaigners into custody. One of the activists who was detained chastised Biden and Harris for their continued support of fossil fuel production records.

According to a statement, Ariela Lara, 18, expressed, "I’m on the frontlines raising my voice for my Black and Latine families and friends because I know that we deserve to have affordable housing and healthcare, we deserve an administration who will fight for us, but instead of declaring a climate emergency, we are seeing Biden and Harris expand oil and gas production to record levels."

Internet shares mixed reactions as climate activists cause chaos at Kamala Harris' California home

People on the internet remained divided with their opinions as climate activists were taken into custody by the police after taking over the street in front of Vice President Kamala's residence.

A user wrote on X, "Sure do see a lot of petroleum products being used. Why aren’t they using more sustainable products like hemp? How many use climate control where they live or live in non-renewable homes?"

A person added, "The Biden Admin has made the largest investment in bicycle infrastructure in history," while one stated, "She also used the March for Our Lives march in Downtown LA as a photo op for her 2020 run. She's a politician who panders, nothing more."

A user wrote, "How authoritarian of you!" whereas one mentioned, "The Dems are DOING THE WORK learn about it please."
