To make their stance clear, O'Connor's estate and label Chrysalis Records have released a statement to Variety, demanding that Trump immediately stop playing the late artist’s song at his rallies.

What did Sinead O’Connor’s estate entail in their public statement?

“Throughout her life, it is well known that Sinead O’Connor lived by a fierce moral code defined by honesty, kindness, fairness and decency towards her fellow human beings. It was with outrage therefore that we learned that Donald Trump has been using her iconic performance of Nothing Compares 2 U at his political rallies,” the statement reads.

“It is no exaggeration to say that Sinead would have been disgusted, hurt and insulted to have her work misrepresented in this way by someone who she herself referred to as a ‘biblical devil'. As the guardians of her legacy, we demand that Donald Trump and his associates desist from using her music immediately,” it added.

Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, is seeking re-election for a second term despite being impeached twice and indicted on several felony charges including falsification of business records, mishandling of classified documents, conspiracy, and racketeering in several states.

An extensive list of musicians, including Johnny Marr of the Smiths, has spoken out against Trump's use of their music at rallies.

In January, Marr expressed his disappointment over Trump's use of ‘Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want’.

Marr wrote on X, “Ahh…right…OK. I never in a million years would’ve thought this could come to pass. Consider this shit shut right down right now.”

Adele, Aerosmith, the Beatles, Bruce Springsteen, Elton John, Guns n' Roses, Leonard Cohen, Linkin Park, Neil Young, Nickelback, Ozzy Osbourne, Panic! at the Disco, Pharrell Williams, Phil Collins, Prince, Queen, R.E.M., Rihanna, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty, Village People, and the White Stripes have all spoken out against the former President's use of their songs at his campaign events and rallies.

Internet weighs in

People on social media were divided while expressing their reactions to the news of Sinead O’Connor’s estate demanding that the former President cease playing her music at his rallies.

One X user remarked, “Too bad, so sad."

Another user wrote, "It's all Trump knows, how to steal someone else's work! He's nothing more than a pathetic little thief! Well he is one more thing as well, a drug addict right @realDonaldTrump?! #F**kTrump."

Another Facebook user asked, "Did the Trump camp pay for the rights to play the song?"

One user suggested, "Sue him. You won't get anything but he won't have anything else to do."

Another user snarked, "I grew up thinking that liberals were kind, intelligent and compassionate people. I was disappointed to find out how resentful and toxic most of them are."

A user commented, "He should use Snoop Dog songs as Snoop recently endorsed Trump! Snoop sees what’s up."
