Sofia Vergara shares cryptic post on ‘narcissistic men’ after Joe Manganiello’s memoir claims
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Sofia Vergara seems to be keeping the conversation around her ex-husband, Joe Manganiello, at arm’s length. The 'Modern Family' actress reshared a post featuring her son, Manolo Vergara, that discussed the differences between the characteristics of a “good man” and a “narcissistic man.”
The post came after Manganiello’s new memoir, 'Bloodline', made headlines for revealing details about the breakdown of his marriage to Vergara. This led many to speculate that Vergara’s reshared post could be a subtle response to her ex-husband’s memoir.
Sofia Vergara highlights difference between good and narcissistic men
The post featured a list comparing the qualities of two types of men: a 'good' man and a 'narcissistic' man. The original post was shared by Vergara’s son, Manolo, who added his own thoughts about “dealing with a narcissist.”
He wrote, “Remember kids... it doesn’t matter how much you do for a [narcissist]. They will resent you for it and nothing will ever be enough and they’ll always somehow try to paint you as the bad guy.”
According to Parade, Vergara also reposted a story by Tom Brady that included a quote about the “ability to laugh at oneself is probably the highest form of intelligence.” She added a clapping-hands emoji alongside the words, “Life’s too short to be too serious.”
For those unaware, the Griselda actress and her son shared these posts shortly after Manganiello’s memoir revealed details about his near-fatal health battle and behind-the-scenes moments from his marriage to Vergara.
What Joe Manganiello shared about Sofia Vergara in his memoir 'Bloodline'
Manganiello revealed in his new memoir, 'Bloodlines', that he battled an autoimmune disease for seven of the last 10 years. The actor also discussed the end of his seven-year marriage to 'Modern Family' star, noting that his symptoms began shortly after the pair married in 2015.
Manganiello continued visiting hospitals in search of a cure as his illness took an increasing toll on his marriage. He wrote that their relationship had eventually “become devoid of any emotionality whatsoever.”
He claimed in the book that Vergara refused to hug him even when he begged and ridiculed him for his 5 lb. “I had to give my gun away because I kept thinking about it, and then the dog came. I went from being the patient to the caretaker,” he said, discussing Bubbles, the Chihuahua he adopted in 2019.
He also revealed that he had given up on fatherhood because of his illness. He said he did not want to leave Vergara with a child “who wasn’t biologically hers.” Manganiello said writing the book was his way of correcting the record. “There were things said and printed about me that were false,” he said.
Speaking to People, the actor explained that discussing his split from Vergara was not the original purpose of the book. However, he felt he had to address it to illustrate the physical and mental toll of his illness.
“I tell the truth in the book, even when it’s super painful,” he told PEOPLE. “It is (also) nuanced, and it’s not something that fits into a sound bite. This book was written because I want people to know who I am, and I had to hide who I was for a very long time.”
