WASHINGTON, DC: Former Wisconsin gas station chain owner Tony Wied is anticipated to declare his candidacy for the position of Representative Mike Gallagher (R-Wis) on Monday, April 8, according to The Hill

It is anticipated that Wied, who once operated six Dino Stop convenience shops and gas stations, would declare his candidacy for Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District, which encompasses the northeastern region of the Badger State.

Former President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social that he is endorsing Tony Wied for the Congressional seat currently held by Republican Congressman Gallagher.

Tony Wied expected to announce run for Mike Gallagher’s seat

It is anticipated that Trump-aligned GOP strategist Alex Bruesewitz, who The Hill first revealed was considering a bid for Gallagher's seat, will decide against it and support Wied. Last week, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel revealed that Wied was considering a solo bid, most likely with support from Bruesewitz.

Bruesewitz said, "I feel that in this time that Tony Wied is the strongest candidate to win. Despite me being up 21 points, Tony Wied is the strongest candidate to win this race in the primary and the general election. A part of putting America first is not putting yourself first."

Notably, Bruesewitz was citing a Cygnal survey from last month, in which he was leading the GOP primary field at 36%, ahead of state senator André Jacque (R) at 15% and former state senator Roger Roth (R) as 12%. A little over 37% were unsure.

Moreover, Bruesewitz was pushed to run in the area by the Trump orbit, an individual close to the former president Trump's family said to The Hill.

A former Trump advisor and Donald Trump Jr's fiancee, Kimberly Guilfoyle, stated to The Hill that Bruesewitz is 'selfless and always puts what's best for President Trump and the MAGA movement as a whole ahead of what's best for himself.'

She added, "We will be behind whatever decision he makes 100%." A person close to Wied informed The Hill that a 'big announcement coming Monday' was imminent.

The source stated, "Tony is humbled by the outpouring of support from patriots in the district encouraging him to run for this seat, and [he’s] grateful for Alex Bruesewitz’s friendship and desire to get WI-8 the America First representation they deserve."

A source said the announcement will happen during Bruesewitz's hosting event in Green Bay.

Internet mocks Tony Wied as he anticipated to declare his candidacy for Mike Gallagher’s seat

Many people on the internet trolled Trump for endorsing Wied as he is anticipated to declare his candidacy for the position of Representative Mike Gallagher. A user wrote on X, "How uninteresting", whereas one added, "LOSER".

A person also stated, "What impact might Tony Wied's candidacy have?" adding, "How will Tony Wied's business background influence?" A user stated, "Another endorsement of some random guy."
