NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Late-night host Stephen Colbert celebrated the sudden removal of Kristi Noem as Homeland Security secretary, using his monologue on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' to ridicule her exit and even suggest who Donald Trump should fire next.

On Thursday, March 5, Colbert trolled Noem using the language used previously by her during congressional hearings.

During Thursday night’s broadcast, Colbert wasted little time addressing the breaking news that Noem had been pushed out of the Department of Homeland Security.

The host initially began with a routine opening about the weather before pivoting sharply to the political shake-up, drawing loud cheers from the studio audience.

“Well, it’s a rainy night here in New York, OK, enough of that. Let’s talk about Kristi Noem getting fired!”

The comedian then mocked the Noem’s controversial past comments and memoir anecdotes while joking about her abrupt removal.

“She’s out, she’s gone. Her fault for standing too close to that gravel pit,” Colbert quipped, referencing a story from Noem’s memoir 'No Going Back' about shooting and disposing of a dog.

Colbert then took aim at rhetoric surrounding immigration enforcement and protests, saying “Before we find out any information about what happened, I just want to say with absolute certainty, she deserves to go to Gitmo.”

He then mockingly walked the comment back in a parody of political damage control attempted by Noem, earlier.

“I’m sorry, I’m being told that’s not true. But you know what, I acted on the information we had at the time.”

Colbert widened his criticism to the rest of Trump’s administration.

“You know which Cabinet member I hope Trump fires next? All of them!” he said, to the amusement of the studio audience.

He later narrowed down his pick to of who should be fired to one controversial figure in the administration. “If I had to pick one, it would be HHS Secretary RFK Jr.”

Colbert mocks Trump’s choice of Markwayne Mullin

Colbert didn’t stop at celebrating Noem’s departure, he also took a jab at Trump’s choice to replace her.

Mocking the reasoning behind the nomination, the late-night host suggested the decision was driven more by television appearances than policy credentials.

“Trump’s choice to replace Noem is Senator Markwayne Mullin. But why? You don’t know anything about him,” Colbert joked before delivering the punchline.

“Well, it’s just as dumb as you could possibly imagine. Insiders say that Trump loves watching Senator Mullin on TV.”

The remark drew laughter and applause from the studio audience as Colbert continued his monologue skewering the administration’s cabinet shake-up.
