WASHINGTON, DC: Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist in the Trump administration, recently praised US Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito's "deep faith" following the leak of a secret audio recording.

Bannon addressed the leaked recording on his show, 'War Room', aired on Real Americas Voice on Wednesday, June 12. The recording, made by liberal documentary filmmaker, journalist, and political consultant Lauren Windsor, was first released by Rolling Stone.

During his show, Bannon featured clips from various news networks discussing the recording. He dismissed the significance of the leak, stating, "It's all a nonevent except for the deep faith of Justice Alito."

Bannon also commended Alito's wife, Martha-Ann Alito, suggesting she should be considered on the "shortlist" of possible vice-presidential candidates for former President Donald Trump.

"That steel in the spine of Martha-Ann Alito, who, like I said, should be on the short list to be VP, that's the type of fire we need. She's not gonna back down an inch," Bannon stated.

Windsor went undercover as a conservative to attend the Supreme Court Historical Society dinner on June 3, where she recorded Alito. In the recordings, Alito discusses various national issues.

At one point, Windsor remarked, "People in this country who believe in God have got to keep fighting for that, to return our country to a place of godliness." Alito responded, "I agree with you, I agree with you."

The Supreme Court Justice also commented on the nation's political divide, saying, "One side or the other is going to win. I mean, there can be a way of working, a way of living together peacefully, but it's difficult...Because there are differences on fundamental things that really can't be compromised. They really can't be compromised. So it's not like you are going to split the difference."

When asked about restoring public trust in the Supreme Court, Alito admitted, "I wish I knew. I don't know. It's easy to blame the media, but I do blame them because they do nothing but criticize us. And so, they have really eroded trust in the court."

This is not the first time Bannon has shown support for Alito's wife. Following the controversy over an upside-down American flag seen at the Justice's home, Bannon previously mentioned her as a potential vice-presidential candidate.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - MAY 25: Steve Bannon, former advisor to President Donald Trump, arrives for a court appearance at NYS Supreme Court on May 25, 2023 in New York City. Bannon was charged last year with money laundering, conspiracy, and attempting to defraud for his role in the 'We Build the Wall' scheme. The state charges are based on the same federal charges for which Bannon was pardoned by former President Donald Trump. He and others have been alleged to have defrauded contributors to a private $25 million fundraising effort to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border. (Photo by Michael M. Santiago/Getty Images)

The upside-down flag, a symbol used by some Trump supporters to contest the 2020 election results, was photographed at Alito's property in Alexandria, Virginia, on January 17, 2021, as reported by The New York Times.

"Justice Alito's wife is now on my shortlist to be VP," Bannon claimed on his show last month. "She's a hammer."

Netizens mock Steve Bannon's praises for Justice Samuel Alito's 'deep faith'

A user commented, "The Alitos have just been given The Kiss of Death. And even they probably know it."

Another added, "No Big surprise that confirmed alcoholic, convicted felon and man on his way to jail would support Justice alito."

A third claimed, "Bannon is hardly the arbiter of truth and reality, but, given that his "deep faith" argument is antithetical, consider the source. Alito's religious zealotry, and the downward path he has taken in its name, is the very reason that Alito should never have been appointed. Separation of church and state exists for good reason.🧐⚖️🛐"

"If the former Breitbart Nazi-in-Chief is praising you, you're definitely too partisan to be on the Supreme Court," stated a user.

Another user added, "Two weeks till Bannon reports to prison. Sounds like he is drunk 24/7."

"Alto is a man of great consequence," read a comment.

"Wow. They manage to insult both the US Constitution and the Bible in one fell swoop and "Christian patriots" eat up every single word of it," added a user.
