NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene called upon senators to "uphold their oath" and carry through the impeachment of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas in a tweet on February 13.

Earlier that day, two articles of impeachment brought against Mayorkas were passed in the House by a narrow margin of 214-213, in the second attempt after February 6.

Marjorie Taylor Greene says 'our border matters'

Taking to the social media platform, the Georgia Representative posted a video of herself interacting with reporters outside the Capitol.

"I'm very thankful to our Republican Congress for finally working together and standing with the American people to send the message to the Biden administration that it is our border that matters, not other countries' borders, our borders matter..." she is heard saying in the clip.

"I think this also sends a message to America that Republicans can get our job done when we work together and do what's important and what the American people want us to do," she shared.

When asked about her message to the Senate, where she will be among those who present the case against Mayorkas as an impeachment manager, Greene stated, "They better pay attention to the American people and how they feel, and then they need to read our articles of impeachment...I would advise them to get well versed in the laws that he broke and understand that the people that voted them into office and the oath of office that they took...swearing an oath to the American people and our country is the oath that they need to remember and then they need to take this very seriously.

The caption to the post read, "After months of hard work, the House has finally impeached Secretary Mayorkas for his dereliction of duty & inviting the invasion of America. To the Senate: the American people demand you uphold your oath & hold a trial and remove Mayorkas for breaking federal law."

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's message

Internet was far from impressed with MTG's narrative, as they slammed her for spending time and resources on futile efforts rather than trying to solve "real issues."

A user questioned the Congresswoman, "How does this help the America people? How does it help the border? It will not pass the senate - maybe you should have passed a bill that would help Mayorkas do his job better."

"Marjorie, you gloating about impeaching the Homeland Secretary is a disgraceful display of political theater. Instead of focusing on real issues affecting Americans, you are busy grandstanding for attention. It's time for substance, not spectacle," expressed another.

"The Senate recognizes yours was just an exercise in vanity and futility," observed a user. "I expect the Senate will dismiss the impeachment in short order. Now go do something to help the American people."

A fourth user jibed, "Tell me @RepMTG how does this solve the border problems you all preaching about ?"

"Great now they can replace him with someone more useless," mocked a fifth.
