WASHINGTON, DC: White House chief of staff Susie Wiles forcefully rejected reports that she plans to leave the White House, declaring she remains fully committed to serving President Donald Trump.
The White House chief of staff pushed back within hours of a report alleging she was preparing to step down after the November midterms.
Susie Wiles rejects White House exit claims
Wiles, 69, issued a rare public statement Friday, May 5, after a report claimed she was considering leaving her post and had grown frustrated with some of Trump’s recent appointments.
“To be crystal clear, I am not going anywhere,” Wiles wrote on X. “I am honored and proud to serve President Trump, proud of our team and remain fully committed to advancing his agenda on behalf of the American people.”
She also accused parts of the media of repeatedly trying to create conflict around Trump and his inner circle.
“See you Monday,” Wiles added at the end of her statement.
The report cited unnamed sources who claimed Wiles opposed Trump’s selection of Florida real estate executive Bill Pulte as acting director of national intelligence. Sources also alleged Trump had become frustrated with Wiles’ management style.
Wiles directly challenged those claims.
She called suggestions that she does not support Trump’s appointees “completely false and defamatory”.
Susie Wiles backs Trump and Bill Pulte
Rather than distance herself from the president’s decision, Wiles publicly endorsed Pulte and defended Trump’s approach to staffing his administration.
“Trump selects the best people for his Administration and we all work together to advance his agenda,” she said.
She also praised Pulte’s work record, saying, “I have observed how hard [Pulte] works at FHFA, and I believe he will bring that same energy and tenacity as acting Director of National intelligence.”
The response underscored Wiles’ effort to shut down speculation about divisions within Trump’s team and reaffirm her standing inside the administration.
Wiles has been one of Trump’s closest political advisers for more than a decade. She joined his first presidential campaign in October 2015 as Florida co-chair and later served as CEO of his Save America PAC from 2019 to 2020.
She eventually became co-campaign manager during Trump’s successful 2024 White House bid before moving into the chief of staff role.
Susie Wiles remains active after cancer diagnosis
Earlier this year, Wiles revealed she had been diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer. In a statement at the time, she noted that “nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis”.
“Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks,” she said.
Wiles also said she was receiving treatment from an “outstanding team of doctors” and remained encouraged by a strong prognosis, as she continues to publicly insist she has no plans to step away from the administration.
