PENNSLYVANNIA, UNITED STATES: The unsettling discovery made by a 13-year-old boy in a Pennsylvania pond two years ago took a sinister turn on Wednesday.

Prosecutors disclosed that the discovered skull belonged to a man, Roger Hart who attempted to kill his wife over two decades ago.

According to New York Post, Dylan Bond made the discovery in April 2022 while searching for frogs, and the skull was subsequently sent to Mercyhurst University for analysis.

Further information regarding Hart and the discovery have been revealed after investigation.

Who is Roger Hart?

The Berks County District Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday that the remains discovered have been identified as Roger Hart, a resident of Pottstown who allegedly attempted to kill his spouse in April 2004 before going on the run.

Following his escape, Hart's abandoned car was located near the retention pond, with the keys and his wallet still inside. He remained unseen after this discovery.

Mercyhurst University, determining that the skull belonged to a male and had been submerged in the water for over 10 years, provided this information, according to prosecutors.

Utilizing advanced DNA testing, Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI successfully identified Hart through the skull.

Due to the skull's condition and the absence of other skeletal remains, a specific cause of death could not be determined.

Dylan Bond, who made the discovery two years ago near his aunt and uncle's home, uncovered further details about Hart and the investigation.

When the 13-year-old boy Dylan Bond found the skull claimed, "I came across something on my toe and I looked down and I couldn't see it. But I scooped it up with my stick, and at first, I thought turtle,"

He added, "I was freaked out... I'm only here for two days. I didn't think I was going to come across a human skull,"
