NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to accuse the left of conspiring to blame the platform and its owner, Elon Musk, for meddling in the upcoming presidential election, on Monday, March 18.

The long rant by Greene was in response to a user calling Musk "a Trump agent" after the latter tweeted on March 15, "There is either a red wave this November or America is doomed."

"This is the new conspiracy theory by the left so they can accuse X of election meddling in 2024 and then go after Elon and X. And they will use it as one of their reasons when they refuse to certify Trump’s election," began the US Representative for Georgia.

"I heard the Democrats saying this same garbage last week leading up to the TikTok vote."

She went on to color Musk as a champion of free speech, after he brought back her account, which was banned for providing misinformation during Covid, after acquiring control of the company.

"Before @elonmusk bought Twitter, they permanently banned my personal account @mtgreenee on Jan 2, 2022, because I tweeted these tweets and told the truth about Covid," she wrote, sharing screenshots of her tweets against vaccines.

"2022 was the midterms and my first re-election in Congress. After Twitter banned my personal account, Democrats organized law fare against me and filed a lawsuit to remove my name from the ballot before my primary election just like they have tried to do this cycle to Pres Trump."

"With my personal account banned on Twitter, I could not campaign at all on this platform, nor raise money, run ads, or fight back in any way because official congressional accounts can’t be used for campaign purposes," she continued.

"On Twitter, my free speech and opinions were banned and I was silenced against the lawfare being waged against me while simultaneously the left was trying to remove my name from the ballot and take away my district’s right to vote for me, which would essentially be silencing my district as well. It was a well organized effort by the left with a multi-pronged attack of censorship and lawfare."

Greene stated that she overcame the challenges to win her election, and later "won my free speech back after @elonmusk bought Twitter and restored my account."

"X is a free speech platform and is essential for Americans to engage in debate, independent journalists to share information, thoughts and ideas to be challenged, and community notes can give context or corrections," she said, proceeding, "Real election meddling happened when they banned my personal account."

"Real election meddling happened when they tried to remove my name off the ballot in ‘22 and then tried to do the same thing to Pres Trump. Real election meddling happened in 2020 when 51 Intel community members signed their name to a lie saying Hunter’s laptop wasn’t real. Real election meddling is happening right now while the DOJ is politically weaponized and is prosecuting the current president’s official opponent in the 2024 presidential election," she added.

"The most dangerous threat to democracy is the left’s nonstop attacks on truth and free speech," wrote Greene, before concluding, "The Founding Fathers knew what they were doing when they gave us freedom of speech as the 1st amendment right. By the way, I was right about Covid and Covid vaccines, and I told the truth at the time when it was unpopular to say it. That’s when free speech matters the most, when the truth is against the grain it must be told and heard."

Internet reacts to Marjorie Taylor Greene's tweet

As the following tweets demonstrate, netizens had mixed reactions to the Congresswoman's rant.

"The Establishment is trying to take down 𝕏 because 𝕏 promotes free speech and that’s a threat to the Establishment. But Republicans in Congress are part of the problem too. They just helped pass the TikTok ban legislation which is a Trojan Horse for censoring 𝕏. Do better," wrote a user.

"Gosh, this is a long thread. Get it all of your chest?. Great! Now do some work and what you're paid to do. Pass bills, make laws. Work for the American people and stop spewing endless propaganda and misinformation," slammed another.

"It’s not a conspiracy. Elon is using twitter to promote his conservative views and talking points while silencing the left. The exact same thing he accused Jack Dorsey of doing," commented a third.

"They will spare no effort to silence X and keep Trump out of the WH," noted a fourth.

"They are afraid of freedom of speech because it goes against their narrative!" exclaimed a fifth.
