WASHINGTON, DC: Following dramatic video footage of migrants pulling down barbed wire and pushing guards at El Paso on Thursday, March 21, the Biden administration blamed Republicans for the pandemonium that was filmed at the border, as per the New York Post.

The White House accused Texas Governor Greg Abbott and former President Donald Trump for the incident, which resulted in injuries to Texas National Guard men, even though they were entirely accountable for homeland security.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Friday, March 22, "The razor wire, that’s [Abbott]. The National Guard, that’s him. The Border Patrol agents still did their job. They got in the way, like the governor’s plans got in the way."

Notably, it was unclear from the spokesperson's remarks whose law enforcement agency 'got in the way' and whether or not that statement was intended as compliments. The people seen being engulfed by the migrants were members of the Texas National Guard.



 

Moreover, Jean-Pierre said that she had not spoken with Biden about the video, before criticizing Abbott one more.

She added, "The president has worked with Congress and the Senate … about getting an immigration bill done, making sure that we deal with the border challenges that we’re now seeing. And you have a governor of Texas who has continued to politicize this."

She further stated, "I do want to say we are grateful for the Border Patrol’s quick work to get the situation under control and apprehend the migrants, so that’s important. But congressional Republicans need to move on this."

She went on to add, "What they’re doing instead … is listening to the former president, President Trump, telling them not to get involved in moving with this bipartisan agreement because of his politics."

Notably, it is said that Trump was responsible for the bipartisan border agreement's collapse earlier this year by encouraging his House friends to vote against it.

Jean-Pierre restated that the Senate-passed, Biden-backed plan, which called for $20 billion to be set aside for border security, is the 'solution' and that Congress should 'move forward' with it, according to the New York Post.

People on the internet took a jibe at the Biden administration as they blamed Republicans for the pandemonium that was recorded at the border.
