'Quite fitting': Internet agrees as Biden campaign mocks 'Broke Don' Trump after he lags in fundraising
WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's re-election campaign brutally trolled former President Donald Trump, labeling him "Broke Don" in light of his lagging fundraising numbers, reported The Hill.
"Not a Winning Campaign: Broke Don Hides in Basement," the incumbent's campaign wrote in an email on Wednesday, March 21. "Trump can't raise money, isn't campaigning, and is letting convicts and conspiracy theorists run his campaign," the taunting continued.
The Biden campaign's mockery stemmed from the election filings made public on Wednesday. The GOP presumptive nominee's 2024 campaign raised only $10.9 million in February, and his joint fundraising committee brought in around $11 million, leaving the campaign at $42 million cash on hand.
On the other hand, Biden's campaign raised nearly $53 million last month, entering March, with triple the funds compared to the ex-president, amounting to $155 million cash on hand.

Biden spokesperson mocks Donald Trump
Ammar Moussa, Director of Rapid Response at Biden's campaign, ridiculed the former president's trickling funding.
"We are two weeks into the general election, and Donald Trump can't raise money, is hiding at his country club, and is letting convicts and conspiracy theorists take over his campaign. That is not a winning strategy," he said.
The campaign further mocked Trump by saying, "Trailing your opponent in cash on hand by nearly 4 to 1 and hitting up donors to help cover your own personal debts instead of funding your campaign [is] a winning formula for November?"
Boosting the 81-year-old incumbent's re-election bid, the Biden campaign raised $10 million in 24 hours after his vigorous State of the Union address on March 7.

On the other hand, Trump's unimpressive fundraising comes as he faces multiple civil penalties in New York state besides his four criminal indictments.
Though the GOP presidential hopeful managed to secure a $91.6 million bond to appeal the E Jean Carroll verdict, he has failed to post bond in the New York civil fraud verdict.
Moreover, his iconic properties, including the Trump Tower, could be seized by NY AG Letitia James as the March 25 deadline looms to post the $464 million bond.
It remains to be seen whether the accession of his allies Michel Whatley and his daughter-in-law Lara Trump as co-chairs of the Republican National Committee this month would improve his funding in the coming months.
The 2024 race entered a general election mode early this month after both Biden and Trump crossed the delegate threshold and secured the respective party nominations.

A fourth response read, "Broke Don is perfect. It goes at his greatest weakness - the pathological lies about his personal wealth."
