'Still going to lose': Internet divided as Biden campaign raises $10M in just 24 hours after SOTU speech
WASHINGTON, DC: The Biden campaign received $10 million in donations in the 24 hours following President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech, further solidifying his financial lead over the presumptive GOP nominee, former President Trump, as per The Hill.
According to the Biden campaign on Sunday, March 10, it was the biggest 24-hour haul of the campaign thus far. This came after it was revealed that February was the organization's greatest month for grassroots fundraising.
Biden campaign claims raising $10 million in 24 hours after SOTU
Biden campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said in a statement, "We thank our grassroots supporters who are motivated more than ever to reelect President Biden and Vice President Harris. The President’s State of the Union address reminded so many of our supporters who are fighting for them, and the stakes of this election for our freedoms, our rights, and our democracy."
She added, "We send our condolences to the other guy and his flailing, poor campaign. Turns out attacking women’s rights, cutting taxes for the rich, and attacking American democracy isn’t exactly a winning message."
Democrats overwhelmingly praised Biden's speech to Congress on Thursday, March 7, praising the president for his feisty speech that repeatedly criticized the words and actions of his predecessor.
The Biden campaign raised almost $97 million in the fourth quarter of 2023, and as of the beginning of 2024, it had $117 million in the bank. After the president declared his intention to run for reelection in April, the campaign this week revealed a $30 million, six-week advertising budget - more money in just six weeks than it spent in 2023.
Over the last year, Trump's campaign has spent millions of dollars on legal expenses, which has put his organization at a serious financial disadvantage. In the upcoming weeks, it is anticipated that Trump will secure the GOP nomination, enabling him to collaborate with the Republican National Committee (RNC) on fundraising.
