FRANKFORT, KY: Republican Rep Thomas Massie turned President Donald Trump’s sharp Christmas-season critique into a fundraising advantage, posting one of the strongest donation hauls of his congressional career after Trump blasted him on social media and called him a “lowlife Republican” for his role in bringing the Jeffrey Epstein files to light.

Massie’s campaign reported a surge in contributions as supporters rallied behind the Kentucky lawmaker following Trump’s comments on Truth Social.

Massie took to social media and wrote, "Imagine celebrating a blessed Christmas with your family… suddenly phones alert everyone to the most powerful man in the world attacking you… for fulfilling his campaign promise to help victims!’"

Massie ended his post with Trump’s reference to him in a Truth Social post: “plus one lowlife Republican, Massie.”

Past feud with Donald Trump

Massie’s strained relationship with the president has been years in the making, but it reached a breaking point over the handling of the Epstein files.

As one of only a few Republicans, the Kentucky lawmaker pushed to force a House vote requiring the Justice Department to disclose all records related to Epstein.

Trump initially pressed members to oppose the measure, though he later reversed course and signed the bill co-sponsored by Rep Ro Khanna of California into law.

Since then, Massie has repeatedly criticized the administration’s approach to releasing the documents, particularly after the Justice Department began publishing a limited set of files on Dec 19, the deadline for full disclosure.

Thomas Massie calls out administration over redactions

On December 19, Massie posted on X ‘’Unfortunately, today’s document release by grossly fails to comply with both the spirit and the letter of the law that Donald Trump signed just 30 days ago’’.

Earlier, Massie escalated his criticism issuing a statement that accused Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Justice Department of openly disregarding the law.

He highlighted the Epstein Files Transparency Act and contrasted it with a letter sent by the administration to Congress, arguing that the department was improperly claiming the authority to withhold or redact identifying information despite the statute’s requirements.
