LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Tom Cruise once again showed his loyalty to his friends by taking time out of his busy schedule to attend longtime friend David Beckham’s Walk of Fame ceremony, even while he is working on his upcoming film 'Digger', which is set to release in October this year
The 'Mission Impossible' star did more than just show up as he delivered an emotional tribute praising Beckham’s journey and saying that despite all his success achievements and global recognition, he has never changed who he is, even as his fame continued to grow
Cruise made it a point to be there for the milestone, while Beckham’s son, Brooklyn Beckham, was notably absent from the celebration.

Dressed in a sharp burgundy suit and wearing his signature smile, Cruise took the podium and delivered an emotional tribute to his longtime friend. “An honor for me to be here today to celebrate my friend David Beckham as he receives his star on Hollywood Boulevard. Thirty years ago this summer, one of the most iconic goals in football history took place...”
Cruise reflected on Beckham’s legendary rise, from a young Manchester United talent to a global icon, highlighting a moment that defined his early career. “Without thinking about it, in an instant he struck the ball with his right foot, sending it soaring 57 yards through the air.. the ball was in the air for just three and a half seconds, but that moment has now lived for three decades.”

“That's why this feels like such a fitting place for us to celebrate him. His is a Hollywood Story. A boy who believed in something bigger than himself had to work for every opportunity he received. It went on to influence his sport shape culture around the world and create opportunities for Generations who followed and for all the records, achievements, and recognition."
"The thing that has impressed me most is that success has never changed who he is. The same core values that got him. These are the ones he lives by today. And through much of that extraordinary Journey, Victoria has been by his side."
Tom Cruise opens up about game-changing MLS connection
Cruise also focused on how Beckham’s influence ultimately helped shape the modern MLS era, including the arrival of Messi. “This kid from East London earned his place at Manchester United, one of the greatest teams in football. He then redefined what was possible from his position.”
He emphasized that Beckham’s pioneering decision helped create the conditions for Lionel Messi’s arrival, “If David Beckham doesn’t come here first, there is no Lionel Messi in this league. That is the impact we are celebrating today.”
“He won six Premier League titles, two FA Cups, and the Champions League. He captained England 115 times... and when David arrived in Los Angeles, stadiums across the league began to sell out.”
Cruise credited Beckham’s MLS move as a turning point for the league’s global rise: “When David came, Major League Soccer had 13 teams. Today it has 30.”
