Travis Kelce admits he understands why Prince William wanted him out of Taylor Swift selfie

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: It seems Travis Kelce has no hard feelings toward Prince William for trying to edit him out of a selfie with Taylor Swift.

The Kansas City Chiefs star recently reacted to the royal's humorous confession about their viral 2024 photo, which also featured Prince William's children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.

Speaking on his 'New Heights' podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, Travis said he understood why William would want a picture with Swift and his children without her then-boyfriend standing beside them.

During the October 28 episode of 'New Heights', Travis responded to William's recent comments about the selfie, which was taken backstage at Swift's 'Eras Tour' concert in London in June 2024.

“I get it, man. I think we all get it,” Travis said, explaining that he understood the prince's point of view. “I was just a boyfriend at that point. I wasn’t her husband yet,” he added.

Travis then joked about what might have been going through Prince William's mind as they posed for the picture.

"We don’t really know if this is gonna last, so it’s kinda just, ‘Move out of the way real quick so we can keep this photo forever,” he said, imagining the prince's thoughts at the time.

“‘Hopefully this doesn’t go south,’” Travis also joked. “‘Otherwise, this photo is not gonna be as good.’” The brothers also shared an edited version of the selfie with Travis removed from the frame.

“I gotta ship that to him,” the Grotesquerie star joked. “Just send it to Buckingham Palace. You think it’ll get to him?”

Prince William admits trying to edit Travis Kelce out

William previously shared the story during an appearance on 'The Graham Norton Show'. The prince recalled attending Swift's concert at Wembley Stadium in June 2024 to celebrate his 42nd birthday.

While taking the backstage selfie with the singer and his children, William said he had tried to get Travis out of the picture. “I hadn't appreciated the significance and actually, I was trying to move him out of the photo,” William said.

“But Travis kept coming back in, and I couldn't work out why he kept coming back in,” he added. “I was trying to move him out so it was just me and Taylor and the children.”

The photo later became a memorable moment for Swift and Travis, as it marked the first time either had shared a picture of the other on social media.
